Bauhaus

England

Bauhaus were an English rock band formed in Northampton in 1978. The group consisted of Peter Murphy (vocals), Daniel Ash (guitar), Kevin Haskins (drums) and David J (bass). The band was originally Bauhaus 1919 before they dropped the numerical portion within a year of formation. Wit... Read More

  • The Local Firm 2012 Fall/Winter Collection ..
The Local Firm´s concept is inspired by the German Bauhaus movement in the beginning of the 20th century, as well as art and architecture from the former European east-block. The design concept, “a contrast of status,” is a cross-wardrobe-based thought that combines garments and materials that distinguish themselves by contrasting one another. Founded in 2007 [...] Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast.com

  • BALTIMORE GRAB BAG: Immortal- Paradigm 12'' ..
I've been hearing some rumblings about Mediafire as well, and though various articles claim that Mediafire won't be changing its service plan, I've heard some contradictory reports and have seen some accounts deleted over the past few days. So with that in mind, I'm going to post a few things over the next few days to get them off my chest just in case something goes down between now and then. Call me paranoid, but why hoard this stuff! Here we have two post-punk records from Baltimore, Maryland. First up, we have an immaculate rip of ...

Mister Daniel Ash, once of Bauhaus, went this roQ direction while Mister Peter Murphy went the “Cuts You Up” route – both of which fit perfectly on the Mother Ship. • Music Review: Sex Church - Growing Over
Sex Church Growing Over [Load; 2011] by Joe Hemmerling Rating: It’s a damn fine time to be fan of scuzzball punk sludge. 2012 has come howling out the gate with the promise of both a new release from Pop. 1280 at the end of January and The Men’s follow-up to last year’s TMT-approved Leave Home in March. Add to that tantalizing menu of rancid noise Growing Over , the late 2011 debut full-length from Sex Church. The Vancouver quartet likes to piss in the same river as their brothers from Brooklyn, digesting a broad spectrum of 80s post ...

  • Loistava Polku - Paratiisilintu
Vaikutelista on perinteinen ja laadukas: Bauhaus, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Musta Paraati, Sisters Of Mercy, New Model Army ja niin edelleen. Koska olen nykyään sen verran pihalla postpunkish-gootish-uusisaaltoish-scenestä, on ehkä parempi, etten lähde sen kummemmin lyömään pöytään omiin korviini nousevia vertauskohteita. Minulle tämä on yksinkertaisesti hyvältä kuulostavaa, tummanpuhuvaa, 80-luvun alusta vaikutteensa ottanutta, punkinjälkeistä musiikkia ...

  • Ones To Watch: Catherine AD
Real name Catherine Anne Davies, Catherine A.D. has been on our radar for some time now. An unusual talent, Catherine A.D.'s evocative voice wraps itself around songwriting that often verges on the personal. However this isn't some confessional, singer-songwriter affair - Catherine A.D.'s output has a Gothic atmosphere which isn't easily shaken off. Dark and often quite affecting, Catherine A.D. poured her spirit into last year's impressive debut full length 'Communion'. Given a 'Ones To Watch' profile in the current issue of Clash Magazine, the team were so impressed by her approach ...

  • Favorite Labels 2011
    5. 100% Silk Home-made, American dance music. Self-produced and ready for the floor. Hopefully the start of something big.  Key releases: Octo Octa, Let Me See You Maria Minerva, Sacred & Profane Love Ital, Ital’s Theme 4. 4AD So, the label that used to put out Bauhaus, the Cocteau Twins, and the Pixies, now releases Joker, Atlas Sound, and Gang Gang Dance? Fucking COOL. Key releases: Zomby, Dedication Gang Gang Dance, Eye Contact Inc., 3 3. Running Back An expertly curated, truly unique voice in a world (house music) that often likes to take the easy way out. Thank Gerd for Running Back. Key releases: Todd Terje, Ragysh   Matthew Styles, Sample and Hold Tiger & Woods, Through The Green 2. Rush Hour Pretty much everything on Rush Hour is crazy good. Not much else to say. I get a tiny rush (oops) of excitement every time I see that font. Key releases:  The Oliverwho Factory, Galactic Transit Braile, The Year 3000 various, Amsterdam All-Stars KiNK & Neville Watson feat. Kim Ann Foxman, A Saturday In November BNJMN, Plastic World Virgo Four, It’s A Crime   etc… 1. 3024 In 2010, by chance, I caught Martyn’s DJ set at Movement Detroit. Playing music that sounded like a hybrid of UK funky and straight-up techno, it gave me and many of my friends a rare moment of true “what IS this?” It proved to be a pivotal point for me musically, a real foreshadowing of what was to come, and Martyn’s 3024 label holds a special place in my DJ heart. 3024 only put out five twelve-inches in 2011, but each one was a thing . Done by easily some of the most important producers of the year, each came in a meticulously splattered, psychedelic sleeve, and edged dance music into wonderful new worlds of sound. Addison Groove pushed his hyperactive sampling into funk-filled, addictive house; Mosca mutated his well-honed UK funky into (gasp) techno; Instra:mental and Trevino took their nasty, stone-aged electro to the year 3000 and back; and Jon Convex and Julio Bashmore produced some of my absolute favorite tracks of the year. There really is something to be said for quality over quantity. Other favorites:  Planet Mu, Hotflush, Local Action, Planet E, Numbers, Throne of Blood, NonPlus+, R

  • Only Flesh - From The Gutter To The Grave (2 ..
So, are Only Flesh a real heir to the trash/glam/shock mantle or all style and no real bite? Are the nineteen songs on their latest release a generous scoop of decadence or an overkill of trying too hard? "From The Gutter To The Grave" will probably spark more questions too, which at least puts it somewhat above the mere stylish. Still, their mix of Bauhaus, NY Dolls and Hanoi Rocks is compelling, even when their sleaze doesn't please. Roughly half of the songs are under two minutes, with half of those under forty seconds, so maybe the ...

  • Peter Murphy: 'Pissing' on His Ex-Bauhaus Ba ..
Filed under: News , Exclusive , New Music , New Releases , Q + A Thomas Tadeus Bak Peter Murphy may be the "Godfather of Goth" and the lead singer for one of rock's spookiest bands, Bauhaus , but until recently the 54-year-old Brit seemed indifferent to his black crown. Murphy's 1990s and 2000s were marked by the creation of a traditional Turkish album, an ambient electric album, a conversion to Islam and a subsequent move to Turkey. It almost felt as though the man who had freaked everyone out so thoroughly performing 'Bela Lugosi's Dead' in David Bowie 's chilling 1983 vampire ...

  • Peter Murphy: Show Preview
As the voice of caliginous post-punk demagogues Bauhaus, Peter Murphy 's legacy would have been secured even if he had faded into the ether when the band first broke up. But Murphy didn't — instead he surged back into popularity around 1990, with Deep , his third solo effort and...

By Mukisa Williams I’m sure that many people didn’t know how to react when first noticing this name on the 9:30 Club’s list of shows: Peter Murphy. Whether as a member of early ’80s, gloom rock outfit Bauhaus or through his own somewhat haunting brand of pseudo-pop solo work—a deep and prototypical catalog in total, [...]

  • MGMT: "All We Ever Wanted Was Everything" – ..
All We Ever Wanted Was Everything".
