The Drums - Live at the O2 Academy, Bristol ..The Drums, previously our top tip for 2010 surely proved themselves to be ones to watch with their self titled debut album bringing beach scenes to our chilly winter. After a change of line up when Adam Kessler left the band and a year of non stop touring they were ready to swiftly release their second album ‘Portamento’ reaching critical claim. News: Sydney’s Songs: ‘We’re Back In Action’ ..Sydney’s Songs may’ve lost two members last year, but the band is back in action, drafting in three new recruits and writing material for their forthcoming second album. Drummer Steve Uren and guitarist Jeff Burch left the band in late 2010, but singer-guitarist Max Doyle and bassist Ela Stiles have since soldiered on, drafting in Ben James (ex-Talons) on drums, Cameron Emerson-Elliot (Community Radio, Youth Group) on guitar and Jules Ferrari (ex-Black Ryder) on keys. 11:45 Toby Martin of Youth Group talks about ..Toby Martin is the founding member of the pop band Youth Group. Toby was researching his PhD on the history of Australian country music at the University of Sydney when he came across the music of Dougie Young. Young was an indigenous country singer who was well known and well loved in his local Wilcannia area. But not many outside that community knew about his music. Toby has used the National Library of Australia's archival recordings of Australian country music to bring Dougie's music back to us. News: Throsby/Blasko/Seltmann ‘Supergroup’ U ..It’s the “supergroup” that just had to happen. Three of Australia’s most distinctive female voices – Sally Seltmann, Sarah Blasko and Holly Throsby – together as one. Calling themselves Seeker Lover Keeper, the trio will release their debut self-titled album on June 3 via Dew Process/UMA. Recorded over “two hot weeks” in New York, it sees Throsby, Blasko and Seltmann sharing vocal, as well as instrumental duties, and was produced by Victor Van Vugt (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey), with The Dirty Three’s Jim White on drums and Shahzad Ismaily (Tom Waits, Martha Wainwright) on ...Mess and Noise16 May 2011

News: New Music: Circle Pit, Tall Buildings, ..– There’s always been a bit of the Jesus & Mary Chain about Circle Pit (well, quite a lot actually), but they’ve always been more ‘Never Understand’ than ‘Just Like Honey’. Until now, that is. The Sydney outfit’s new 7” reveals a moodier side to the band, who tore strips off us at last year’s Lunchbox gig. (Watch the footage here .)
