Mixtape # 34 / January 2012 / Late January A ..Ho. So the year has started so far ok. First of all, it is still freakishly chilly in California. Freezing during nights. But warmth is on the way and all is good. January can be quite sour and depressive - but help is on the way. This masterful mix! Ha! Over 70 minutes of pure bliss. The Shins give us a hint of their new album - they are always rather nice to listen to. Smooth and melodic, and this song is no different. Charming, playful and fun to listen to. New Music: Young FathersYoung Fathers have an interesting mix of backgrounds: one of the trio is from Nigeria, another from Liberia, and the third from, err, Edinburgh. Anyway, they’ve put out a mixtape of dense hip hop, and are releasing their debut album on February 6th. There are dark moments, there are pop moments, and it has the typically understated rap name of ‘The Guide’. The sample we have for you below is actually track ‘Rumble’ from the mix tape: short, but dense.
