Juk Juk - ‘Unwrap’ Is this ‘Holocene’...Juk Juk - ‘Unwrap’ Is this ‘Holocene’ sampled, crackled and chopped? There’s every indication that is so, even if not, that’s essentially what ‘Unwrap’ sounds like. On Kieran Hebdon’s Text Label’s Juk Juk (aka Caleb Waterman) dropped some elect 2-Step last year, in the form of crisp beats, scratchy bass, lush strings and a choice vocal sample - namely ‘Water Turn Spring’ and ‘Frozen’. ‘Unwrap’ doesn’t stray from the formula, but it’s a bit more granular with a distinct tautness … and it smacks of Bon Iver. In fact, his performance was so noteworthy that it spawned countless news stories and a website by the title Who Is Bon Iver? I should use the word “performance” sparingly though, as Bon Iver turned down the opportunity to perform live. Flights.Even in an age in which Spotify is (albeit justifiably) chastised for paying out pittances and peanuts to starry-eyed, if holey-jeaned artists it seems all but entirely illogical that a record of such startling beauty as Anywhere But Where I Am may be proffered by its conjurers free of charge. Said conjurers are Flights , or Eric Hillman and Brian Holl. Although the duo are now shacked up in Nashville, they hail initially from Wisconsin which, to the ignorant Brit at least sends surging thoughts recurring to Justin Vernon. Busy BonJustin Vernon of Bon Iver (pictured) has been busy recently. He’s apparently been working on several songs with Alicia Keys for an unspecified project, starting up a blues-gospel side project called the Shouting Matches and also working on an album with Volcano Choir that he says is for the Japanese market. Bon Iver Announces Spring Tour DatesGrammy-nominated artist Bon Iver have announced a short run of US tour dates kicking off this April. Supporting the act will be Volcano Choir and All Tiny Creatures on select dates. In a recent interview Justin Vernon discussed that Bon Iver will be taking a long break, with no plans for a new album anytime soon. However it seems that although Bon Iver may not be writing new music, fans can certainly rest easy knowing there will be plenty of chances to catch the band before the break. Anderson In a recent interview with USA Today regarding his four Grammy nominations , Bon Iver 's Justin Vernon mentioned a few projects he has in the works. Justin Vernon was recently nominated for somewhere around 4 Grammys. Naturally (or not), that has led to an explosion of remixes and covers, many of which have actually been quite impressive. And so Deadwood Floats has joined the club with their own rendition of “Holocene.” Perhaps one of the easiest covers to pull off is a piano rendition of an acoustic song, though that doesn’t necessarily detract from the enjoyment of the original. Maybe it was at the hands of Sigur Ros’ Takk , which found its way onto a plethora of BBC television shows.
