4AD Music and Art Auctioned for CharityA collection of 4AD music and artwork is being auctioned on eBay to raise money for Natasha Laflin , a British artist and illustrator who suffered a near fatal bain aneurysm in 2008. Funds will go towards helping Laflin move from a care-home back in with her family. Read more about her life here . The auction items include a Grimes cassette single, a test-pressing of the reissue of Dead Can Dance's 1988 record The Serpent's Egg , a 2009 Japanese label sampler CD featuring selections curated by various 4AD artists, a vinyl compilation of 4AD Session performances, and a book ...Pitchfork19 May 2012

The Big Pink Live on KCRW – Stay GoldSoaring choruses are The Big Pink’s specialty and “Stay Gold”, complete with fuzzy guitar licks, is a perfect example. I was addicted to the song “Dominos” off the UK band’s previous album and they treated us to that track, as well as “Velvet” (which Lykke Li covered in our studios last year) and “Superman” (inspired by Laurie Anderson’s “O Superman”) in this live session recorded while the band was on the West Coast for Coachella. Music Review: The Big Pink - Future ThisThe Big Pink Future This [4AD; 2012] by Art Ivan Rating: Future This , the new album from London duo The Big Pink, goes decidedly — and somewhat oddly — against what one might expect from a second album, especially from a band that issued a debut of massive-sounding sonic proportions back in 2009, the much-lauded but still critically controversial A Brief History of Love . The Big Pink: Future ThisWhile this new batch doesn't have anything as catchy as "Dominoes" or contemplative as "Velvet", The Big Pink dials up it's flair for Cure-esque anthemic 80s-pop right off the bat with a one-two opening salvo of "Stay Gold" and "Hit The Ground (Superman)". On "Give it Up" Furze and Cordell get blippy with their elctrodes and a could-be female chorus which I suspect is their voices modulated to high heaven.Paste Magazine18 January 2012
