Like I said on my other blog yesterday: the second season of Portlandia is fucking incredible. I wasn't entirely convinced by the first season - too uneven. But this second one? Tits. Though I'll never be able to take Carrie Brownstein seriously again. I only mention this because this post includes a song by Wild Flag, Brownstein's current band. Pray For Rain by Mutts Chicago's Mutts have been called a cross between Tom Waits and Nirvana...while I can hear the Tom Waits comparison, I think the band's music is sounds closer to 70's blues-rock though the band can quickly switch from a psychedelic head-nodder with a pulsing bass and drums beat to a mellow number driven by an acoustic piano and Mike Maimone's vocals. Και γιατί να βιαστούμε άλλωστε; Ας αφήσουμε στην άκρη τα αυτιστικά μας που μας επιβάλλουν να είμαστε πάντα στην ώρα μας (αλήθεια από πότε καθιερώθηκε αυτή η ώρα;) και επίκαιροι και ας απολαύσουμε 40 από εμένα και 40 από την uptight (σύντομα κοντά σας) επιλογές από υπέροχους δίσκους. Micachu & the Shapes/ London Sinfonietta - Chopped & Screwed Ο δεύτερος δίσκος των Micachu είναι μια ζωντανή ηχογράφηση της μπάντας μαζί με την μικρή ορχήστρα του Λονδίνου. Μοιάζει με soundtrack τέλους του κόσμου, φοβερά ατμοσφαιρικό, μυστήριο, δυσοίωνο και περίεργο. Η μπάντα ακούγεται σα να έχει παγιδευτεί μέσα στο μάτι μιας μύγας, έχοντας μια ευρυγωνική, κάπως διεστραμμένη και σατανική άποψη για τον κόσμο.
