  • Willie Nelson: Legalizing Marijuana Would Sa ..
    Hey, I just defer to Willie. He hasn’t been wrong yet. Guardian UK : Did starting to smoke weed make a difference to the way you thought about the world and your political interests? When I was out in the bars drinking and fighting I was a little bit less of a peacemaker than I would be if I’d had a coupla hits of a joint and gone and laid down somewhere. I’d have less bumps on my head, that’s for sure. Won’t it be too hard for Congress to decriminalise weed? Well, Connecticut just became ...

  • Purling Hiss - "Lolita" for Shaking Through ..
    Purling Hiss are the latest participants in the Shaking Through series sponsored by WXPN. The band hit the studio to record a new song, "Lolita," produced by War on Drugs' Adam Granduciel. The track is a cleaner, but still biting version of their fuzz-psych sound and a pretty clear argument that these guys need to get into the studio for a proper full length that's higher on the fidelity spectrum. They've displayed an aptitude on record for mind flaying solos and gravel gnarled guitar grit but coupled with this clearer view of Polizze' songwriting it would be interesting ...

  • Purling Hiss: "Lolita"
    In the latest installment of  Weathervane / WXPN 's  "Shaking Through"  series, the War on Drugs ' Adam Granduciel enlisted Philadelphia guitar hero Mike Polizze and his band Purling Hiss to create a song in two days. "Lolita" is built around a fuzzed out guitar riff, and it's probably the most hi-fi thing the band has recorded to date. Check out the documentary behind the song here .

  • Thieving Irons :: "Poison"
    You would be hard pressed to reach full maturity without at least once reflecting, "I've got poison in my head", as Brooklyn's Thieving Irons do so brilliantly on coming single, "Poison." This wouldn't have to be the self-medicated, over-the-counter poison of the suburbs, light American-style lagers in parking lots and basements. It wouldn't have to be the poison you can get prescribed to you by a medical doctor if you say the right things or complain of "recurrent and debilitating pain". It wouldn't have to be the poison that is the beauty and stupidity of ...
