Lorca - Can't See HigherOn a good day for promos, I found myself marvelling how much of this music malarkey is based around luck. On the nearfield monitors chez Panhead Studios, which reward the brave (and scorn the timid), this little promo might well have passed me by. Bit polite maybe. Biff, Bam, KapowPhoto's by Paul Hughes Phew! Worra heaving evening was had by all at Saturday's Railway shindig - a shakedown, a tear up, a roof quaking, leg shaking, stompzilla of a gig. Where, by 9:30 the pub was rammed to capacity, and admission was capped at a one in/one out basis. Incredible! Bif, Bam Pow - blitzed though the winners and hits. The Len Price 3 did 45 minutes of short, sharp (suited) mod rockers : think The Ramones meet The Kinks by way of The Who… Followed by two hours of tuney doings spun by Piley and myself. Bassrush presents Funktion Wednesdays: Phote ..Photo credit: Oh Dag Yo / Bassrush This was my first time attending a Bassrush event as well as attending an event at the Dim Mak Studios in Hollywood, formerly known as the Cinespace . Bass ically (see what I did there?), I didn't know what to expect, which I felt was a good thing, because it meant that I had no expectations (good or bad) walking in. Gordon in the morning: Hair appointmentIt's a miracle there's anything on Bizarre today - not only because Gordon was busy explaining what a tight ship he runs over at the Leveson Enquiry yesterday, but because we now know the hours and hours and hours put into making sure all the stories are true and accurate. Who knows what lengths the Smarties went to in order to check whether the lyrics to a Jay-Z song were true , for example?
