Hop Farm Festival 2012 AnnouncedOver the past couple of years, The Hop Farm festival has been hosting a simply amazing lineup, with last year’s event including headliners; The Eagles, Morrissey and Prince! And as imagined, it was an amazing weekend. Then, just when we thought that pretty much all of the UK festivals had been announced – we were provided with the 2012 lineup for the Hop Farm Festival in Kent. The Kids Are Alright: Hospitality Edition ..Another new band whose music I've been enjoying lately is Hospitality . The MP3 of their self titled debut album, released earlier this year by Merge Records, is on sale for $3.99 at Amazon at the moment. The first track "Eighth Avenue" is also available as a free download. It's worth checking out, in my opinion. I think I mostly skipped a generation of indie rock. Adorable - Fake (1994)Adorable 's second album, Fake , saw a development along the lines of that which the first album promised. It also heralded a greater maturity in their work, and a greater confidence which allowed them to move into softer pieces, with more pronounced, yet at the same time subtle instrumentation without losing any of their edge. Psychedelic Furs - Forever Now (1982)The Psychedelic Furs were one of those bands who seemed to be bedevilled with frequent line-up changes. As is so often the case, such line-up changes did nothing to enhance the band or its music. One could argue, indeed it is a view that I would share, that the Psychedelic Furs peaked with the release of Talk Talk Talk and were never able to achieve that degree of brilliance again. Album Review: Hospitality are a superbly rich sounding trio out of Brooklyn that just released their debut of sophisticated indie pop on Merge Records. The Alphabet- This Strange Love 7''Here's an extremely rare and rather unknown 7'' from the UK. Judging from the cover, you'd expect some dark post-punk, aggro hardcore sort of thing, but instead we're treated to two emotive minimal synth gems. I had to triple check the record to make sure it wasn't some mixup! I know very little about this one. The band hails from the UK and this is their only release, despite some misinformation over at their discogs page (the split listed with Invisible Hands is a newer release from the US, band with the same name, apparently).
