  • favourite songs of the year 2011
2011 was a quiet year here, but that's not because I didn't have any songs to love, or didn't listen to any new music, or because I don't love you. It's just that I've been busy working on all that other stuff that has nothing to do with love and songs, and also, all that other stuff that does. This is the sixth year I've done this list, and it's a little sparser. But the songs that made it here are worth your precious ear-time, every one of them. And if you ...

  • New Music Video: The Luyas - Moodslayer
Any David Lynch and Ingmar Bergman fans in the room can attest that form should follow function. If you're going to tell a fractured and non-linear story, the film's style should be just as fractured and nebulous. Canadian indie rockers, The Luyas, have heeded this advice for the new music video for their song "Moodslayer". An artsy combination of noise rock and modern indie sensibilities (with an intro that pleasantly recalls the breakdown of Radiohead's "The National Anthem") is blended with an avant-garde video full of archetypal images of childhood and random, hectic flashes of images.

  • The Luyas set the mood
The new video for "Moodslayer" from The Luyas is described as "animated." While that technically may be true, it isn't quite what you think. It peels back what you'd traditionally think of as animated to reveal a slow progression of frames. It's more like a flipbook that you can view above.

  • Featured Video: The Luyas - Moodslayer
Posted at 2:10pm, 1/27/2012 "Moodslayer", is the fantastic new animated video from The Luyas . "Moodslayer" is off of their most recent release, Too Beautiful To Work . The director, Derrick Belcham had this to say about his creation: "Moodslayer" is created completely out of hand-made paper animation machines, crystals and analog light and shadow. Most every object in the video is spinning on a record player. The song, "Moodslayer" was written by compiling the anxieties and venerations of a close friend as they dealt with their first schizophrenic hallucinations. Shot on a modified digital camcorder, the visuals were ...

Boxer Rebellion - " Caught By The Light " από ...

They’re only beginning to explore the possibilities and so far, they’re offering up their debut EP, Light & Color . Let’s start with the first song, “Cake.” What a classic energetic pop of glam rock! It’s upbeat, intricate, and slightly grungey. The rest of the EP is a melting pot of different approaches ...
