The organisers of The Wickerman have unveiled details of their tenth anniversary event. The festival season is dominated by the spectre of massive events, but away from Reading & Leeds, Glastonbury et al there is a thriving scene of smaller, rather more community oriented events. Founded ten years ago, The Wickerman is now a cult entity on the Scottish festival scene. Hosted close to Dumfries, the event mixes and eclectic bill with a friendly and familiar atmosphere. Returning for its tenth anniversary, organisers are planning a host of surprises. In the first line up announcement The Wickerman has secured performances from evergreen British rockers Feeder, The Bluebells and more. Liverpool post-punk icons Echo & The Bunnymen are set to drop by, while Craig Charles will bring his Funk & Soul Club to the festival. Elsewhere, Matthew And The Atlas will perform while Riva Starr, The Hoosiers and dance giants Utah Saints are also set to spend the weekend at the Wickerman. Set to headline the Summerisle Stage, Feeder frontman Grant Nicholas said: “The Wickerman Festival’s reputation precedes it as being one of the most diverse in the UK. This will be our first ever appearance and we’re honoured to be headlining the main Summerisle Stage in their tenth year. Even better, playing on the Saturday night is an added bonus as it means we’ll get to stay on and watch the wickerman burn!” Bigger than ever, Wickerman now holds more than 15,000 fans with a total of ten stages around the site. Festival coordinator, Helen Chalmers, said; “In celebration of our tenth year we have extended our site to include ten stages so we can offer an even greater mix of established acts and future stars for the 15,000+ music lovers who will attend.” Tickets are on sale now. The Wickerman is set to run between July 22nd - 23rd.
