Dylan tribute tourA swag of Aussie performers will hit the road in July for a series of Bob Dylan tribute shows. To celebrate fifty years since Bob's 1962 self-titled debut disc, Josh Pyke, Kevin Mitchell, Kav Temperley, Patience Hodgson from The Grates and Holly Throsby will perform a series of gigs in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, as well as a stint at this year's Splendour In The Grass Festival. News: Dylan Tribute Shows AnnouncedThe “Bob Dylan tribute” buried in last week’s Splendour In The Grass announcement certainly provoked a strong reaction from the M+N community. “OH MY GOD,” exclaimed forum user mrmagoo, while another claimed it made them “puke” (with excitement, we presume). Now, we can finally reveal that it’ll be more than just a one-off show. In the vein of The Beatles’ White Album concert and the aborted Nirvana tribute shows , the Bob Dylan 50th anniversary concert will be making its way to a theatre near you (if you live in Brisbane, Melbourne, or Sydney that is). News: Dirty Three, Jack White, ATDI For Sple ..This year’s Splendour In The Grass line-up has been revealed in full. It includes Lana Del Rey, Jack White, Smashing Pumpkins, a reformed Afghan Whigs, as well as Bloc Party and At The Drive-In in their only Australian appearances. The Dirty Three, who recently played a round of theatre shows in support of new album Towards The Low Sun (read a review of two of them here ), are also confirmed, while Tame Impala, Kimbra, Hoods">Hilltop Hoods, Lanie Lane, Wolfmother, Seekae, Bleeding Knees Club, Big Scary and DZ Deathrays round out a sizeable local contingent. Kiwi TV ad really gratesA New Zealand TV ad for breakfast cereal has got Brisbane duo The Grates in a tizz... Fans of the band pointed out that the tune used on the ad bore a striking resemblance to The Grates' 2008 ditty 'Aw Yeah', and the band agreed, tweeting “They asked us if they could record a version of this song for the ad. We said no. Can’t believe they did it anyway, jerks."
