The Antlers

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

The Antlers are an indie rock band currently based in Brooklyn, New York, fronted by Peter Silberman. Silberman wrote the first two albums, Uprooted and In the Attic of the Universe by himself and under his own name. Afterwards, he recruited Michael Lerner and Darby Cicci, becoming a... Read More

  • All aboard the Weezer cruise: an extensive r ..
Our indie professor is so indie she signed up for a holiday on a boat with Dinosaur Jr, Sebadoh and Weezer. And she's such a professor, she wrote an end-of-term report about it ... One of the things I love about a destination festival is that it takes you away from your everyday life. And a music cruise takes the destination festival to a whole new level. When I grew up, it seemed that a cruise was something you did when you retired. The sort of trip you went on when you were afraid to fly or when you'd ...

  • Sharon Van Etten – Tramp
Score: 7.3/10 Jagjaguwar Sharon Van Etten Tramp is a coming out for Sharon Van Etten. For the last several years, she’s been Brooklyn’s co-ed duet partner of choice, guesting on songs from The Antlers to The National. Now, with her second full-length – her first for Jagjaguwar, Van Etten is showing her full breadth as [...]

Februar soll der vierte Langspieler "Ask Me This" via Pony Rec/Rough Trade in die Plattenläden eures Vertrauens gelangen.

  • "Still not where I want to be" // The 405 me ..
There aren’t many people out there right now who can compete with the musical pedigree of Sharon Van Etten ; alongside releasing two well-regarded albums in her own right, she’s collaborated with The Antlers, Beirut and The National - an impressive CV to say the least. Her third album Tramp ( review here ) continues this spirit of kinship with an impressive roster of guests including the Dessner brothers and Beirut mastermind Zach Condon. The 405 met the quietly understated multi-instrumentalist and vocalist at an eerily silent London pub to talk about Tramp and the musical lineage that birthed it… You can ...

  • Album Review: We Have Band – Ternion
“It’s better to burn out than fade away” is a quote often bandied around on the modern alternative scene. ‘Ternion’, the second full-length offering from Manchester-based indietronic three-piece We Have Band, shows there can be a degree of nuance to synth-pop. Think New Order, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark or the Antlers or Kraftwerk spawning a mildly irked Hot Chip, and you won’t be far off. What strikes you about this album is its dynamism:... Ever hear this one? Three guys walk into fluorescent purple disco bar. The Antlers’ Peter Silberman takes a look round, surveying the wreckage and girls in cute outfits. • Pretend You Took Weezer Cruise 2012: See 5 V ..
Weezer superfans are currently recovering from their weekend in Heaven, otherwise known as the 2012 Weezer Cruise. The four-night excursion, which sailed from Miami to Cozumel January 19-23, featured a clout-wielding lineup of classic and contemporary indie acts, including Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr., and Wavves. Unsurprisingly, it hasn't even taken cruise-goers 48 hours to unpack and upload their video footage from the wonderland grown-up summer camp that featured flip cup, bellyflop, and cannonball contests with supporting acts like the Antlers and the Knocks; karaoke, prom nights, bingo tournaments and game shows; and multiple Weezer appearances, including a live reading from ...

  • The National curating ATP's December fest; b ..
It’s never too early to start thinking about next winter! Wait, no, that’s an awful thing to think about. Unless you’re a The National superfan, or a zealous devotee of All Tomorrow’s Parties in Somerset, England, that is! The good people at ATP recently announced that the Cincinnati rockers would be curating the festival’s annual winter shindig, and the first few bands have already been announced. So, friends, perhaps it’s time to start thinking about how to get a job at the old frozen banana stand this summer. Unless, of course, there’s somewhere ...

Jamie Woon - "Night ...
