So last week I caught an episode of MTV’s “Made” show. I assumed it would be shit, as most MTV seems to be the past few years… but holy cow, this case MOVED me! I cried my eyes out! The episode dealt with bullying, and oddly enough, the main character’s high school is so big on metal music- they have an annual “battle of the bands” type thing. So in short, the bullied girl wanted to face herself and be made into a Metal Screamer. Great episode, I embedded it above, so watch and enjoy!  Look out for ...

probrucer : If you’re driving on America’s highways over the next few weeks and think you see five of your favorite pop-punk/post-hardcore bandleaders in the vehicle next to you, you are probably correct! The all-acoustic “Where’s The Band?” tour is currently out for its fourth iteration, with solo sets from returning upperclassmen Chris Conley (Saves the Day), Matt Pryor (The Get Up Kids, The New Amsterdams), and Anthony Raneri (Bayside) as well as freshman participants Ace Enders (The Early November, I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody’s Business) and Evan Weiss (Into It. Over It.). We ...

  • Joe Paterno is dead at 85
There comes a time in every blogger’s career where someone dies who either had the best or worst reputation in the world, depending on who you ask, and you have to walk the fine line between the two where you acknowledge that yes, it’s sad he died, but he did some terrible things and death [...]

  • Triple Tragedy
This week’s Fok Bloke show took a shizophrenic turn, veering wildly from songs about terrible things to songs about other things, and I think I harped on about it a bit too much. It was quite exciting.

  • The John Cleaver Series by Dan Wells
The John Cleaver series is a trilogy of books by author Dan Wells. They are supernatural horror/thriller novels labeled as Young Adult fiction. Even though they feature the exploits of a fifteen-year-old kid, don’t let the YA designation fool you. These books are full of terrible things happening to people of all ages…for your entertainment. This year has been hard, but incredibly positive overall. I’ve done some amazing things in 2011 that I never imagined I would do. The big highlights include finishing my first full year at The New School and living in NYC, visiting some amazing places (including spending the summer in Guatemala), and quitting my job that I’ve had for more than 6 years. It hasn’t been easy but I also don’t regret anything. And what more can you ask for? I don’t have a clue as to what 2012 has in store for me, though I ...

  • Rihanna vs. Jackie magazine!
I don’t know why, but today I’ve just been inundated with stories of terrible people doing terrible things. Somewhere between Kim Kardashian going back on her promise to help the needy and Courtney Stodden banging Santa while the paparazzi takes pictures, I kind of want to march Linus out here and have him quote Bible [...]

Former Born Against frontman Sam McPheeters has announced that he will be releasing a new novel of fiction titled The Loom of Ruin . The book is being published by LA-based publisher, Mugger Books. Sam had this to say about the story: [It] could be called a "satire" or "dark comedy" or a "story in which lots of terrible things happen to a lot of good people". If you like my writing, you will like this book. It was written with you in mind. If you're not familiar with his writing, his most recently published piece in Vice Records was ...

jesskilgannon : Today we wish our good friend Josh Eppard a very happy 32nd birthday! Josh is the flavor and groove behind Coheed’s earlier work, not to mention that haunting “Coheed theme song” we all love so much. When he left the band in 2006 due to personal issues with illness and addiction, he began a journey of recovery and growth that has resulted in some of the most stunning and inspiring work of his career. During this time Josh released his second full-length album Sick Kids under his hip-hop project Weerd Science and toured extensively. He also joined, recorded ...

ooookay well then! It’s more than time to write the follow up to A Thousand Torches: TERRIBLE THINGS release eponymous track – the journey so far .  I spent about 9 hours on that, still extremely proud of it.  Lots of ideas roaming in my head, and stories to put into words…. but that’s going on hold for a bit.  Right now I’m heading into the A Thousand Torches Turntable.FM room to gather with Children of the Fence to chat while listening to music!  Feel free to join! > Neeshland’s Visual Guide to Unlocking Turntable
