  • OFF Festival unveils new line-up additions, ..
With an already stellar line up including the likes of Atari Teenage Riot, Battles, Colin Stetson, Das Racist, Iceage, Kurt Vile, Shabazz Palaces, Suicide and Swans; it didn’t look possible that OFF could get any bigger, with their eclectic mix of old and new acts. But now sub pops’ Pissed Jeans, 405 favourites Purity Ring (pictured above) & Fanfarlo and hip-hop legend DOOM are amongst new additions, it’s shaping up to be one of this summer's hottest tickets. So if you’re bored of the same old British festival line ups, get yourself a flight to Poland ASAP ...

  • TEENAGE RIOT: AN INTERVIEW WITH PSYCHIC TEEN ..
By Andy O'Connor (TX) Imagine if Joy Division, Sonic Youth, and Hüsker Dü got together for a jam session. Everyone wanted to stick around for some Akira, Broken Flowers, and a few episodes from Twin Peaks' first season afterwards. Make a run for beer before the store closes at midnight, order some pizza (from a local joint, not a chain), plop on the couches, and chill out. Philadelphia

  • Review: Catcall - The Warmest Place
Catcall’s ‘The Warmest Place’ is a timely reminder of why we loved pop music so much in the first place, writes CAITLIN WELSH . As a female fan of pop music or a pop music fan who is also a fan of women, it’s been a largely heartening century so far. For every gross character like Brian McFadden or Chris Brown, there are the Robyns, Washingtons, Santigolds, Beyonces, Florences and, yes, Adeles, who perform variously with strength, subtlety, subversiveness, self-assurance and shit-kicking glee. But if you apply a sort of Bechdel test to pop music, it doesn’t fare ...

  • An Interview with Death Grips by Atari Teena ..
These guys are srs bznss. Read the rest at Clash : Alec Empire: I was glad to see your show at Coachella this year in 2012 for the first time. When I included your video for “Guillotine” over a year ago in a debate about video clips in a European magazine, a lot of people were putting it off as one of these ‘obscure things Alec Empire likes because no one else likes them’ or whatever. So a lot happened with you guys since then, and it’s awesome that so many people are getting into your music. In the past ...

  • Atari Teenage Riot - Collapse Of History
Alec Empire remains a peerless figure, seething with intelligence. Helming a rejuvenated version of Atari Teenage Riot, the frontman has lost none of his confrontational streak. New video 'Collapse Of History' is typically antagonistic - a nightmare-ish vision of youth in the age of information overload. Watch it below...

  • Sleigh Bells - Reign Of Terror (2012)
Treats was a startling debut album from Sleigh Bells. The band put together a complex, deep sound that drew in the surf pop of Best Coast and the intricate arrangements of My Bloody Valentine, and delivered them with a level of aggression Ministry only wished they could still muster. Now that we know what to expect from the band, their sophomore album Reign Of Terror, doesn't overwhelm us the same way. It doesn't mean that the band has toned things down, quite the contrary, but the audience has been better conditioned to receive it. The layers and layers ...

  • New releases for the week of May 1, 2012
We can expect a lot of hype surrounding B.o.B 's Strange Clouds this week. Will the rapper successfully sail past the sophomore slump? Little Broken Hearts from Norah Jones is sure to be the talk of the town as well. But, of course, that's not the only record on our radar. The Spinto Band 's Shy Pursuit is another interesting album--the band have chosen to release it on their own Spintonic label. Pieces from Charlene Kaye 's Animal Love have sounded very impressive, and Carina Round always delivers pleasing songs. All the new releases we know about ...

  • OFF Festival Makes New Additions
OFF Festival has expanded its line up once again, with Metronomy, The Antlers and more being added. Held in Poland, OFF has rapidly developed a reputation for producing left field bills of an extremely high standard. Mixing experimental music with some tasteful mainstream fare, the Polish event recently expanded its bill yet again. Amongst the latest additions are Joe Mount's Mercury nominated collective Metronomy. Since the release of 'The English Riviera' the band have spent considerable time on the road, honing their live set in the process. Clad with those distinctive lamps on their chest, Metronomy are set to ...
