Tame Impala

Australia

Tame Impala are a three piece psychedelic rock band from Perth, Western Australia . Tame Impala were formed from Kevin Parker's original blues/jazz/psychedelic band, the Dee Dee Dums. The Dee Dee Dums consisted of Parker (drums) and Luke Epstein (guitar), with the band getting second... Read More

  • POND.
Pond are a three piece straight outta Perth. You may well have heard the name before, and perhaps the sound. That’s probs coz two thirds of Pond are Nick and Jay from mega superstars Tame Impala. It’s big fuzzed out riff heavy rock’n'roll. I’m not a massive fan of Tame Impala…but I’m liking Pond. You can [...]

  • Feature: New Noise: Wolf & Cub, Pond, Bearhu ..
An all-killer, no-filler edition of New Noise featuring tracks by Wolf & Cub, Bearhug, Pond and Harpoons that will surely whet appetites for forthcoming full-length releases. – After the red cordial buzz of 2008’s Chris Colonna-produced Science & Sorcery , Adelaide’s Wolf & Cub have noticeably taken it down a notch. Showcasing the dubby (‘See The Light’) and the Krauty (‘All Through The Night’) sides of the band, a new double A-side single precedes the band’s forthcoming third album, which was produced, recorded and mixed by Burke Reid at Sydney’s BJB Studios. Out now through iTunes and Bandcamp , the single will be launched in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney in March/April. Dates here . See The Light // All Through The Night by wolfandcub – Reportedly written in the midst of a Springsteen obsession (though we’re hearing more of summery US west coast vibe), Bearhug’s new single ‘Angeline’ is the first lifted from their forthcoming debut, Bill, Dance, Shiner . Recorded with Tim Whitten, it’ll be out through Spunk on March 23. The album follows two EPs, Cartoon Islands and To Anything , which features popular single ‘Grapefruit’ . Bearhug - 'Angeline' by SpunkRecords – ‘Moth Wings’ is more batshit crazy psych-rock from new Modular signings Pond , which features Tame Impala alumni Nick Allbrook and Jay Watson, along with Joseph Ryan. It’s the second single from soon-to-be-released fourth album Beard Wives Denim , following ‘Fantastic Explosions Of Time’, which you can listen to here . The album was recorded over two weeks in a ramshackle farmhouse in Western Australia, with ‘Moth Wings’ reportedly breaking the band’s “mid-recording cabin fever”. Moth Wings by POND – Bec Rigby puts in another star vocal turn in ‘Walk Away’ (not to be confused with Craig David’s ‘Walking Away’), the new single from modern R&B; pop group The Harpoons . Along with its excellent predecessor [‘Keep You Around’), which premiered on M+N late last year, the song bodes well for the band’s Nick Huggins-produced debut (out this year through Two Bright Lakes/Remote Control). In a Citizenship Test interview with M+N , Rigby described it as a “a ball of barely sentient flesh clicking its tiny fingers to the Michael Jackson greatest hits its mum is listening to”. Download link is in the original post Sounds like: Foals, New Navy, Last Dinosaurs Song: Glass Towers - Jumanji [download here ] What's so good? The indie pop scene is booming in Australia, so it’s very difficult for a song to stand out from the crowd. Sydney band Glass Towers has done this with their new track “Jumanji.” Formed in 2008 after meeting in the serene coastal town of Byron Bay, the four-piece are a band brimming with potential. They released an EP in 2011 entitled What We Were, When We Were and have played at the Splendour in the ...

  • Download: Pond - Moth Wings
'Moth Wings' is the second single from Pond 's fourth record 'Beard Wives Denim'. The entire album was recorded over two weeks in a ramshackle farmhouse in Western Australia; 'Moth Wings' is said to have, quite literally, broken the bands 'mid-recording cabin fever', and it's easy to see why. Mixed by Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) and Rob Grant at Poon's Head Studio in Perth 'Beard Wives Denim' is out March through Modular Recordings March 2nd (AUS), March 5th (UK/EU), and March 6th (US). Pre-order now, Mod Shop , JB Hi Fi .

  • POND – “Moth Wings”
On songs like “Fantastic Explosion Of Time,” Australia’s POND mixes big licks and psychedelic vibes in a way that recalls some of the Beatles’ more far-out stuff. They’ll probably never escape the continuous comparison to Tame Impala — they do, after all, share two members — but I can’t necessarily see how that’s a bad [...]

  • Crossing The Pond
Ok..I have to admit when I saw an email with the words POND on it, I just about had a heart attack. Yeah, I went there...I thought the old Sub Pop band was back. How awesome was would that have been. I guess a little too awesome because it wasn't to be. This POND comes to us from across one and hails from Down Under. While not the original, this POND are a pleasant surprise. Quite good in that noisy 90's indie rock mixed with psyche pop kind of way they might just make you forget ...

Pond hail from Perth, Australia, the same stomping ground as brother band Tame Impala, which shares three of the same band members. • Watch: Pond - Fantastic Explosion of Time ..
Here is the video for Pond 's ' Fantastic Explosion Of Time ', directed by AMJC . The band's fourth album, Beard, Wives, Denim is an audio diary of ten friends' strange, terrible and blissful time in the country trying in vain to be a wholesome family band. It sounds just like it, distorted and woozy and fractured and ultimately nostalgic and loving. Mixed by Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) and Rob Grant at Poon's Head Studio in Perth, said record will be out on Modular Recordings March 2nd (AUS), March 5th (UK/EU), and March 6th (US). Pond will be touring ...
