Feature: New Noise: Wolf & Cub, Pond, Bearhu ..
An all-killer, no-filler edition of New Noise featuring tracks by Wolf & Cub, Bearhug, Pond and Harpoons that will surely whet appetites for forthcoming full-length releases. – After the red cordial buzz of 2008’s Chris Colonna-produced Science & Sorcery , Adelaide’s Wolf & Cub have noticeably taken it down a notch. Showcasing the dubby (‘See The Light’) and the Krauty (‘All Through The Night’) sides of the band, a new double A-side single precedes the band’s forthcoming third album, which was produced, recorded and mixed by Burke Reid at Sydney’s BJB Studios. Out now through iTunes and Bandcamp , the single will be launched in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney in March/April. Dates here . See The Light // All Through The Night by wolfandcub – Reportedly written in the midst of a Springsteen obsession (though we’re hearing more of summery US west coast vibe), Bearhug’s new single ‘Angeline’ is the first lifted from their forthcoming debut, Bill, Dance, Shiner . Recorded with Tim Whitten, it’ll be out through Spunk on March 23. The album follows two EPs, Cartoon Islands and To Anything , which features popular single ‘Grapefruit’ . Bearhug - 'Angeline' by SpunkRecords – ‘Moth Wings’ is more batshit crazy psych-rock from new Modular signings Pond , which features Tame Impala alumni Nick Allbrook and Jay Watson, along with Joseph Ryan. It’s the second single from soon-to-be-released fourth album Beard Wives Denim , following ‘Fantastic Explosions Of Time’, which you can listen to here . The album was recorded over two weeks in a ramshackle farmhouse in Western Australia, with ‘Moth Wings’ reportedly breaking the band’s “mid-recording cabin fever”. Moth Wings by POND – Bec Rigby puts in another star vocal turn in ‘Walk Away’ (not to be confused with Craig David’s ‘Walking Away’), the new single from modern R&B; pop group The Harpoons . Along with its excellent predecessor [‘Keep You Around’), which premiered on M+N late last year, the song bodes well for the band’s Nick Huggins-produced debut (out this year through Two Bright Lakes/Remote Control). In a Citizenship Test interview with M+N , Rigby described it as a “a ball of barely sentient flesh clicking its tiny fingers to the Michael Jackson greatest hits its mum is listening to”.
