  • Rihanna Is A Swamp Thing In “Where Have You ..
Thanks to Rihanna sharing nearly 200 behind-the-scenes photos of her shooting her latest music video “Where Have You Been”, we think we have our 2012 Halloween costume picked out — a reptilian bra attached to our skin, paired with impossibly low-rise pants. Now all we need is RiRi’s flawless body. (That should be easy to ... More »

  • Album Review: Joyce Manor - Of All Things I ..
Right from the opening track ( "These Kind of Ice Skates" ) it is clear that we are faced with a slightly different Joyce Manor to the one whose self-titled debut LP fitted snugly between Thing">Swamp Thing and Make Do And Mend on 6131 Records’ release catalog. Where sunny 90's melodies and pop-punk undercurrents were previous buried by outrageously dirty guitars and a bass tone so low most laptop speakers wouldn't even pick them up, they have been put under a magnifying glass on "Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired" . Stylistically, Joyce Manor still work within the ...

Hey, swamp thing. Phoenix Project is now 406 Arts, and they're throwing an appropriately crusty punk-rock house party. • Jeff Lemire
Two of the surprise hits of DC New 52 initiative were Jeff Lemire's trippy horror series Animal Man and his action-packed Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E. Both made a big splash for the Sweet Tooth scribe. Here we talk for a spell with the inspiring young writer. He dishes back his thoughts on the collaborative environment of DC Comics, reluctant heroes, ceding control to artists, and remaining silent about the Mysterious Red-Hooded Woman. Also, see our discussion with his partner in crime, Scott Snyder (Batman, Thing">Swamp Thing).

  • Scott Snyder
Scott Snyder had a very successful year in 2011 with his creator-owned American Vampire comic, Batman: Gates of Gotham, and his excellent Black Mirror run for DC Comics' Detective Comics series. He now writes for Batman and Swamp Thing in DC's New 52 universe that rebooted last fall.

  • Chameleons - Why Call It Anything? (2001) ..
The Chameleons split in the late 1980's when their manager, mentor and friend suddenly died. Not being able to stand the consequences of being without such inspirational leadership, the four members went their separate ways. Various bands emerged out of the wreckage but none of these ever achieved the same level of brilliance that the Chameleons did. Not, of course, that most people ever noticed this. The Chameleons , you see, followed in that great British tradition of producing fantastic music which went totally overlooked and unappreciated in their own country, save for a few who had the intellectual independence ...

  • R.I.P. David Hess
David Alexander Hess started out his incredible career as a songwriter and musician. At the age of 15 he was the first to record Otis Blackwell 's "All Shook Up". Later picked up by Elvis. His stage name was David Hill. He also penned (with Aaron Schroeder) " I Got Stung " for Elvis and then also co-wrote and recorded "Speedy Gonzales", later made famous by Pat Boone . He now called himself David Dante. He then went on to record 2 solo albums for Kapp Records . At the end of the 1960s he co-wrote the rock-opera ' The Naked Carmen ' with John Corigliano ...

  • Batman #1
Batman #1 comfortably sits alongside the relaunches Action Comics, Animal Man, Batwoman, Justice League, Thing">Swamp Thing, and Wonder Woman. It's one of the best examples that DC's New 52 relaunch is an out-and-out success.

  • THE NEW 52…
The JSA doesn’t exist in “our” world—they’re going to get their own Earth-2 series. Vertigo exists in our world…Except when it doesn’t.  Thing">Swamp Thing and Constantine are here—but it’s not clear whether the “Sweet Tooth” world will be explained and “fit in” to the new DCU.  I always assumed Swampy and Consty were already in [...]

  • Swamp Thing #1
Vertigo's Thing">Swamp Thing is a treasured series for many comic book readers. Alan Moore's iconic run is untouchable in my opinion, but the yarns spun by Rick Veitch, Mark Millar, Brian K. Vaughan, Andy Diggle, and Joshua Dysart left a strong legacy as well. Scott Snyder (American Vampire, Batman) knows this and isn't screwing with too much continuity. You can tell, even from this debut issue, that he has plans for an epic story arc all his own.
