Elliott Smith Mural Restored for His Birthda ..For the first time in three years, the renowned memorial mural for the late singer-songwriter Elliott Smith was updated on Saturday, August 6 for his birthday. (He would have turned 42). To celebrate the occasion, a group of anonymous artists touched up the mural and also added a stencil of Smith standing where he appears on the album cover for his 2000 release Figure 8 . The mural was originally created shortly after his death in 2003 outside Solutions Audio in Los Angeles, California. You can view pics of the mural from LAist here . Elliott Smith Mural Updated for Smith's Birt ..This past Saturday, August 6, was the birthday of late, revered singer-songwriter Elliott Smith . (He would have turned 42). LAist reports that to celebrate the occasion, a group of anonymous artists touched up the iconic mural on a wall in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles that appears on the cover of Smith's 2000 album Figure 8 .
