  • Letherette – “Maybe”
Youtube has become a haven for Letherette beats that will probably never see the light of day, and this unofficial video for “Maybe” by Synesthesiæ Films (who are also responsible for Solar Bears‘ “Forest of Fountains”) uses footage from Japansese cult classic Cruel Story of Youth to take it somewhere else. You should revisit their most recent mix for Ninja Tune if you’d like to hear what they’ve been up.

  • Mixtape # 41 / May 2012 / The Monumental May ..
Not going to write up too many words about this one. It just felt kind of right for me. First of all - a little tribute to Adam Yauch - an idol during my teen years. This bad boy form Beastie Boys was nothing but a good man and visionary. Sadly he passed away and may he rest in peace. Death Grips are a band worth checkin' out. Very progressive hip-hop - something that the genre needs. Mamaleek are a LA band that kind of blows your mind - literally- and your ears too. Lightships, Capital Grey and Here We Go Magic are delivering ...

  • Clu – “Evening Ever”
Solar Bears sent Dublin’s Clu my way, and “Evening Ever” is a captivating post-dub tune that falls somewhat in line with Mount Kimbie‘s “Carbonated”. Check out their soundcloud for more heat.

  • MFM x Into the Blogosphere
DIY Radio: Into The Blogosphere (23rd April 2012) by Diy on Mixcloud MFM was on the radio this week, shipping off buzz to the ports inside your pretty ears. The past two weeks’ worth of mp3s have been among the finest of the year so far. In complete honesty,  if you were to make a list come December of your songs of the year, a least a few of these would be in serious contention of aiming for the upper half of the countdown. Take the finest, most pristine example of minimal pop to date for example, with Jessie Ware ...

  • LISTEN: Solar Bears ‘Cosmic Runner’
SOLAR BEARS’ ‘Cosmic Runner’ comes in waves, juxtaposing the very electronic and the very organic, forming a strangely perfect harmony. The pulsating melody fills your mind with images of crisp, clean lines weaving their way through architecturally beautiful buildings and expanses of white, taking the mind’s eye on a rollercoaster ride through the starry dynamo. • Solar Bears "Cosmic Runner"
John Kowalski and Rian Trench have sent us "Cosmic Runner," the second track to leak from their sophomore album as Solar Bears , Supermigration , a record with no official home or release date as of yet. The tune features dreamy pads and a compressed, '90s-style hip-hop beat cascading under a suite of saturated arpeggiations as it progresses through a variety of twists and turns. Anchored by a tough bassline, "Cosmic Runner" is an interesting new direction for Solar Bears, whose technicolor sound has been molded into a more foreboding context in comparison to the duo's 2010 debut for Planet Mu ...
