Seeker Lover Keeper

Sarah Blasko, Sally Seltmann & Holly Throsby. Individually, they’re three of Australia’s most innovative songwriters. Seltmann specialises in narcotic, dreamy, sweeping pop, aided by layers of cotton-soft vocals, pianos and synths. Throsby is known for summoning melodies that sound b... Read More

  • Album Review: Triple J - Triple J's Hottest ..
Triple J’s Hottest 100 is one of the most anticipated countdowns of each year. It tends to have something for everyone – representing the year in music. 2011’s Hottest 100 was, of course, no exception and features a variety of songs from a vast range of genres and artists/bands. The annual two disc CD release, Triple J’s Hottest 100 Vol. 19 is a 41 track compilation, featuring a selection of the songs that made the top 100 – and a stellar compilation at that. The variety of songs on these two discs is really commendable – you get a ...

  • Tune of the Day: Seeker Lover Keeper - Rest ..
When I first came across this gorgeously simple track on Seeker Lover Keeper's self titled debut, I instantaneously fell in love with its stripped back nature and darling message. In my opinion, this is exactly how love songs should sound like, completely innocent and down to earth. It's...

  • Seeker Lover Keeper - Seeker Lover Keeper ..
Seeker Lover Keeper is an all female super group of sorts, comprised of Australian singer/songwriters Sally Seltmann (or New Buffalo as she’s sometimes known), Sarah Blasko and Holly Throsby. Having all released well received albums in 2004 and consequently meeting each other on the tour circuit, the artists grew close over a mutual respect for each other and the music they play. Originating as an off the cuff suggestion by Sally Seltmann to form a band, the trio decided to fly from their respective homes to New York to record the album in one two week session. At ...

  • Interview: Holly Throsby
Holly Throsby’s had a pretty big 18 months, releasing three albums (one children’s album, one solo and one with Seeker Lover Keeper) and touring herself ragged across these projects and more. She’s also met a lot of disappointingly two dimensional forest critters, it seems. Back in town for her first Adelaide solo show in a year, she [...]

  • Album | Seeker Lover Keeper – Seeker Lover K ..
There will always be a place in my heart for keening melodies played on acoustic guitar, and soaring close-harmony vocals. Some might baulk that music like this fails to push boundaries: others, the folk purists, (generally the most militant of listeners) that the effect is too mainstream, too influenced by pop. If hit-makers aren’t your [...] ( Read more... ) Categories: Records Tags: Sarah Blasko , Seeker Lover Keeper

  • Seltmann gets botanical
Seeker Lover Keeper's Sally Seltmann has a new side project in the works. She describes Alphabet Botanical as "a magical wonderland" and "an escape from her solo work" which will see her recording new music with a bunch of different artists. Sally has already finished two tracks with Tim Myers - formerly of US rockers OneRepublic - and a duet with Ben Lee. Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” has had its heyday, and maybe even a bit of an overplay since the single’s release, but this remix deserves some additional playtime. You can always count on a European hunk to pump some electronic air into an original’s tires, and Germany’s Bastian Van Shield is no exception. Despite a bit of a lengthy intro, Van Shield’s ...

  • Live Review: Bon Iver + Sally Seltmann - The ..
In my job, I’ve been to some pretty amazing shows. I’ve seen Muse bring an intergalactic production to Sydney; hell, just last weekend I saw Slipknot’s Sid Wilson climb up a speaker tower and jump off while pyrotechnics lit up the stage. Massive and intricately planned stage productions like there are always awesome when executed correctly, but tonight’s show at the Thebarton Theatre, courtesy of Bon Iver , demonstrated the sheer emotional effect live music can have on a mass of people with only the use of instruments and vocals. The sold out Golden Plains sideshow brought ...
