In the latest installment of our mixtape series, Sydney’s Cameron Webb (aka Seaworthy) has spliced together some of his favourite Australian experimental and instrumental artists with snippets of environmental sounds. Field recordings and found sounds have always been key components in Seaworthy's music, often forming bridges and foundations for pieces. "Australia produces some amazing noise," says Webb. Sydney’s Charge Group have returned with their first new music since 2008’s Escaping Mankind – and they’ve got acclaimed actor Brendan Cowell to direct the corresponding clip. Cowell (star of Noise , Love My Way and, incidentally, the younger brother of Girlfriend’s Jacqui Cowell) makes his music video directorial debut on Charge Group’s ‘Run’, matching the song’s intense claustrophobia with a fairly frenetic dance sequence featuring an Indonesian dance troupe and the band donning masks and performing in an elevator shaft. Pollen Trio marks a rewarding point of collision or, er, cross-pollination between two Australian lineages that LMYE (this half, anyway...) is deeply invested in - the extraordinary post-jazz trio tradition of The Necks , Triosk & 3ofmillions meeting the broader experimental church of Shoeb Ahmad 's hellosQuare (our neglected label of 2010 ) & Ahmad/ Evan Dorrian ( PT)'s Spartak . PT metamorphosed out of the Austin Benjamin Trio a while back - a transition covered in this Fluid Radio interview .
