USF's The SpraySeattle's USF (Universal Studios Florida) released a texturally striking pop album yesterday, on Portland's Circle Into Square, completely based on and titled after a Jonathan Lethem short story, "The Spray". The story is about a young couple who get robbed, The police come to help them file the report and the couple can't figure out exactly what was stolen. Karl Lagerfeld)” SomethingALaMode are Thomas Roussel and Yannick Grandjean, two prized string players that spent their teenage years at the An-Fer — the venue of choice for 90s French electro greats like Laurent Garnier and Daft Punk. They formed in the wake of a project that eventually produced classical reinterpretations of Jeff Mills’ work performed by the Montpellier Philharmonic orchestra, in 2006 (which you can watch in full here , and I suggest you do). Nine Inch Nails' Pretty Hate Machine to be R ..Back in 2005, Rykodisc re-released Nine Inch Nails’ debut album, Pretty Hate Machine , which had been effectively out of print for 8 years while in the hands of TVT, the first record label to sign Trent Reznor. Now the record is still unavailable via legal digital outlets (it may even be out of print again), but all that is about to change… Billboard.biz reports that L.A. publishing firm Bicycle Music has acquired 700 masters (about 80 albums) from the Prudential Securities Credit Corp, which had previously bought the collection from TVT. Something a La ModeI already briefly mentioned these guys in an earlier post with their own remix of their track Rondo Parisiano . Turns out Something A La Mode (SALM) is more than a one trick pony. In fact, with the release of their first and only album, these French youths are said to have created a new genre! They call it "electro-strings".
