Sonar have revealed their 2012 plans with four events taking place across the globe including Barcelona, Tokyo, Sao Paulo and Cape Town. Sonar Barcelona will take place from 14th-16th June. Kazu Makino of Redhead">Blonde Redhead has announced the release of Works In Progress, a 15-song benefit album to support Japan and it’s ongoing efforts to heal post-tsunami. Born in Kyoto, Japan, Kazu’s love for her home country is strong. She wanted to help her homeland and turned to her friends and colleagues to ask that they donate tracks for the album. The response was unbelievable, and Kazu has collected an amazingly cohesive group of songs. James Blake hat einen Song von D'Angelo für den Radiosender BBC 1 neu abgemischt. "Left & Right" stammt von der wegweisenden Platte "Voodoo", die der R'n'B-Soulster im Jahre 2000 veröffentlichte. Zuletzt machte Michael Eugene Archer, so sein bürgerlicher Name, auf sich aufmerksam, als er  Soundgarden s Grunge-Klassiker "Black Hole Sun" neu interpretierte ( motor.de berichtete ). James Blake hingegen veröffentlichte kurz vor Jahreswende nicht nur seine neue EP "Love What Happened Here" ( motor.de berichtete ), auch gab er eine sehr ansprechende Visualisierung zum Track " A Case Of You " heraus. Für "Left & Right" hat der Produzent nicht nur sein Pesudonym Harmonimix, unter dem er auch schon Snoop Dogg oder Destiny's Child remixte, angenommen. Er verleiht dem Stück mit schemenhaften Bass-Effekten und verzerrten Stimmen den typisch Blake'schen Sound. Taking a brief break from his usual disco-inclined production, Canadian producer CFCF has put together a mini-LP of sorts, one that's surprisingly made up entirely of sprawling, piano-based compositions inspired by the hybrid pieces of Phillip Glass, Ryuchi Sakamoto, and other such artists. The eight-song effort, Excercises (artwork above), is said to show a much more introspective side to CFCF than we're used to seeing, but if "Exercise #3 (Building)" is any indication, the songs will likely yield some rather enjoyable results. CFCF dives into a extremely intellectual and moody realm with his latest mini-LP, “Excercises”. CFCF channels Steve Reich, Tangerine Dream, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Philip Glass into this latest release. Definitely a surprising and refreshing track from a producer such as CFCF.
