On Record Store Day, April 21, Ribbon Music and Domino are releasing an exclusive, limited-edition “FlexiDisc Zine” called Smugglers Way. The 24-page zine will feature contributions by artists ranging from Alex Bleeker (Real Estate), Owen Pallett, and Bjorn Copeland (Black Dice), to Jon Hopkins, Ade Blackburn (Clinic), and Jana Hunter (Lower Dens). It also includes unreleased songs by Dirty Projectors, Real Estate, Cass McCombs, Villagers, and TMT favorite John Maus, all spread across five individual, multi-colored Flexi Discs. Domino have lined up a new flexi-disc zine, featuring material from Real Estate, Dirty Projectors and more. At one point almost at the point of extinction, the flexi-disc seems to be making a comeback. London label X-Ray specialise in flexi releases, while Domino now look set to give the format their seal of approval. The independent are lining up a flexi-disc 'zine, no less, with a release due on Record Store Day (April 21st). Last night, both The War on Drugs and Real Estate performed sets at Trix in Antwerp, Belgium. Part way through the Drugs set, Real Estate bassist Alex Bleeker emerged on stage wielding a 12-string acoustic guitar for a jam on the Drugs’ song “Brothers” (check out the official video here)....
