  • Greensky Bluegrass Totally Bitchin’ ’80s Par ..
Our appreciation for Michigan natives and the latest in a growing class of HT faves, Greensky Bluegrass , continues to grow. Last night at the Fox in Boulder, Greensky threw down an ’80s themed Halloween show that featured a slew of covers from the Reagan Era. Among the choice tunes given a bluegrass spin by the band were The Theme to Ghostbusters, When Doves Cry, Who Can It Be Now? and Thriller. They even tackled Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top and Bruce Springsteen’s Atlantic City over the course of two lengthy sets. This “Totally Bitchin’ ’80s Party” didn’t ...

  • Super Villians - Ghostbusters 2006 Mix
This is one of the better remixes I've ever heard of the Ghostbusters theme. It's not as recgnizable, yet it still keeps intact most of the song. A lot of Ray Parker Jr.'s vocals are taken out but still your head is still in a Ghostbusting mood listening to it. The original was at one time my favorite song ever. Its catchy as hell, Huey Lewis be damned, is just too fun and amazingly still holds up as a great song. Some 80s stuff sounds really dated but compared to a lot of more recent sounding music ...

Who you gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS! – On this day in 1984 Ray Parker Jr.’s theme song hit number one in the charts and stayed there for three weeks!   Just incase anyone else has been tainted by the X-Factor rodents (Jedward) rendition of this childhood memory – we’ve thrown in a little video to remind you of its former greatness!     On this day in 1979, Led Zeppelin played their last ever UK show as a whole group when they appeared at Knebworth Park with tickets priced at £7.50.   Jump forward to 2007 and Led Zeppelin did make a one-off appearance ...

  • Glastonbury 2011: Sunday
Sunday morning at Glastonbury was spent lying in the searing sun listening to bands from a distance. Jamie Woon, criticized as sounding a ‘bit Charles and Eddy’ stepped up to that plate by playing ‘Would I Lie to You’ in a set including the brilliant ‘Night Air’, before Jah Wobble took things down the toasted dub route that we are all used to on our Pilton Sabbath. The main stage had seen McLean">Don McLean offer up the first ‘legends’ afternoon set before Laura Marling gave the jaded throngs a smooth selection to set things up for the first hopefully ...

James Brown : Your Cheatin' Heart [ purchase ] Good God! In 1969, coming off five singles with the word "popcorn" in the title, James Brown teamed up with a 20 piece big band to try a brand new bag. ‘At heart,” James told jazz writer Leonard Feather, “I’ve always been a jazz man. When I was just a kid in Macon, Ga., doing amateur shows, I went up on the stage with some of those great name bands that passed through town. I’ve never forgotten the impression those big band sounds made on me.” With arrangements by Oliver Nelson and ...
