Tu Fawning 's latest single, "Anchor" from their forthcoming sophomore LP, A Monument takes nearly four minutes to get fully underway. When it does, full of overlapping melody and ratatat tams, the song swells like storm surge puffing itself full of a bit of terrible megalomania. The opening moments portend only slivers of this danger, rumbling drums and falsetto vocals, a sparseness that foretells of something to come. The nautical imagery runs through more than just the title, a refrain that bobs against the forces of nature - the drums and the washing guitars - that threaten to destroy it, all before ...

These days cultural critique can feel a bit like form meeting function. "Society has gotten too loud," you scream, predictably, into some digital megaphone. Cherry - Ratatat Old school beats, or at least what constitutes as old school these days. Off of the Ratatat album, Brooklyn duo Ratatat shows the beginnings of his works. This song is inspired by their first moniker, "Cherry" and it is always nice to see artists working there way back to their roots. A sort of go back to the classroom feel. It takes a lot to impress me when it comes to pushing musical boundaries and artistic interpretations these days. Just received this video recently and wanted to share it with you. Just over 9 minutes in length, a group of 20 musicians play live snippets of 38 songs from a vast variety of genres going back 100 years in one take. The band is called Dancefloor Diplomacy and they are calling this unique style "collage music".
