  • PropertyOfZack Playlist : : Koji, Kurt Travi ..
    Koji, Kurt Travis, and Bearcat just recently finished up a full US tour with Never Shout Never. The tours over, but we’ve put all three artists together for a great new PropertyOfZack Playlist feature. Check out the Playlists and listen to the songs on Spotify while reading everyone’s thoughts! (Click on image to listen in Spotify) IT’S SPRING TIME. SOUTHERN MUSIC IS WHAT’S GOOD. First thing you should know, my favorite singer is—without a doubt—Otis Redding. “Dock of the Bay” is one of the first songs I ever heard, ever learned. Secondly, B.B ...

  • Report: El-P's Cancer for Cure Record Releas ..
    Last night was a big one for El-P . After emerging from the kind of semi-exile that swallows lesser rappers whole following 2007's I'll Sleep When You're Dead , El released two of the year's best rap albums, in two consecutive weeks: the incendiary Killer Mike record R.A.P. Music , which he produced entirely, and his own majestically gloomy fourth album Cancer for Cure . He is in the giddy flush of a late-career resurgence, and at Santos Party House, he gathered everyone responsible for the moment together. Inside Santos, the camaraderie was thick-- I overheard people claiming ...

    Visit Indie Shuffle to download. Sounds like: Ratatat, Amon Tobin, Daedalus, Nazzy Song: Hot Sugar - #Mindcontrol [download here ] What's so good? I’m getting a kick out of the fact that Hot Sugar hashtagged his song title. Some would say that bleeds hipster, I say it’s a jostling sort of humor that seems to come out in his music as well. Not that he is not a serious dude, but he seems seriously intent on not taking himself too seriously through his seriousness. Whoa. Known for creating sounds straight from his environment, Ninja Tunes (his new label) says ...

  • Tu Fawning :: "Anchor"
    Tu Fawning 's latest single, "Anchor" from their forthcoming sophomore LP, A Monument takes nearly four minutes to get fully underway. When it does, full of overlapping melody and ratatat tams, the song swells like storm surge puffing itself full of a bit of terrible megalomania. The opening moments portend only slivers of this danger, rumbling drums and falsetto vocals, a sparseness that foretells of something to come. The nautical imagery runs through more than just the title, a refrain that bobs against the forces of nature - the drums and the washing guitars - that threaten to destroy it, all before ...

  • Donora :: "And Then The Girls"
    These days cultural critique can feel a bit like form meeting function. "Society has gotten too loud," you scream, predictably, into some digital megaphone. "Things have gotten too fractious," you note, obliquely, in between attention-deficit monitoring of multiple social networks. "No one has time for big ideas anymore," you trail off; people are done listening and you have no useful second movement. So, you double-down on your contrarianism, becoming oppositional and distant, unaware, or perhaps helpless, that this is - that you are - now the new, ever-shifting majority. And then along comes a song like "And Then The Girls" from Pittsburgh ...

  • Cherry - Ratatat
    Cherry - Ratatat Old school beats, or at least what constitutes as old school these days. Off of the Ratatat album, Brooklyn duo Ratatat shows the beginnings of his works. This song is inspired by their first moniker, "Cherry" and it is always nice to see artists working there way back to their roots. A sort of go back to the classroom feel. Love this song and as always happy listening. Also look out for more Ratatat stuff in 2012... They do plan to release some new stuff. =b

    Here's a post of two artists appearing at Coachella that I WON'T get to see. It's not because I don't want to see them, but the difficulties in planning my schedule for the three day event. The post is going to tie in both artists with one song submission. Madeon recently remixed Solveig. Let's take a listen: Good! Let's break it down. French music is hot right now. I've always been a fan of French House music like Daft Punk and Cassius. Recently there has been a few hot rock/indie bands out ...

    New D-WHY track out today, “I’m Here Now,” holding fans over until the release of the next single off Don’t Flatter Yourself. “Own Eyes” had an overwhelmingly positive response and this song should be no different. D takes an in-your-face approach to let it be known that he just kicked in the door to the music game and he’s official ‘here.’  Download:  D-WHY - “I’m Here Now”

    It takes a lot to impress me when it comes to pushing musical boundaries and artistic interpretations these days. Just received this video recently and wanted to share it with you.
