  • Winnipeg label War On Music goes up in flame ..
A fire broke out today in a historic building housing independent music collective and record label War on Music . The business is part of the Albert Street Business Block, which contains one of Winnipeg's oldest dwellings. The small strip has a few tiny storefronts built in the 1940s attached to a portion of a 135-year old house. The label & collective has released albums from Evil Survives, Electro Quarterstaff, including re-issues from Razor, Sacrifice and most notably a split 7 inch with Winnipeg's Propagandhi and Toronto's Sacrifice . Video of the blaze can be viewed here and here .

The stories I could tell about Steve Aoki. Nothing mean, just juicy. Anyway, now that “EDM” is on the verge of being the new rap-rock in America (if it isn’t already), it seems kind of odd that he’s not the one getting the big magazine covers and Grammy nominations. But he’s ready for that to change, as you’ll discover in the Washington Post : Steve Aoki, the globe-trotting DJ and founder of Los Angeles-based record label Dim Mak is busier than ever, zipping around the world from music festivals to club openings and coolly acting like he ...

Shane Told talked a bit about the punk covers and how the genre fits into Silverstein: Nightmare">American Nightmare, Kid Dynamite, Propagandhi and Lifetime are our favorite bands collectively [but] I don't think we purposely try to stray away from our influences. I think we've just found our sound, our Silverstein sound, and that's what it is. No matter what type ...
