Song of the day: "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halse ..Paul McCartney's solo albums have long been the subject of derision, and none more so than 1971's Ram, which was just reissued with bonus cuts. I've always had real affection for Paul's solo stuff (and, unlike most people, find much of John Lennon's solo material almost unlistenable with all the political sloganeering and Yoko references). Thankfully, many of today's critics have a new appreciation for Ram. In fact, the All Music Guide argues that "in retrospect it looks like nothing so much as the first indie pop album." In today’s terms, it would be like the guy from Train making a record with Kreayshawn, only the guy from Train would have to be a genius responsible for the greatest music of the previous decade—or any decade, really, in modern music history. Beatles' 'Backwards' Abbey Road Photo Fetche ..Filed under: News Iain Macmillan, Courtesy of Bloomsbury Auctions A photograph of the Beatles walking "backwards" across the Abbey Road pedestrian crosswalk has just sold for £16,000 (about $25,000 U.S.) at auction. The photo shown above was not used for the band's Abbey Road album cover and was therefore unseen by many until now. Only six shots of the rockers were taken on that sunny London day in 1969 when the late Iain Macmillan was given 10 minutes to photograph the band.
