  • Bruce Stallion "Big Black Rims"
Bruce Stallion (formally Black Rabbit) is the new project from Brighton based DJ Floorclearer (Guy Appleton), known for his frantic amen breakcore and for being part of the notorious Wrong Music party crew. Under his new guise guy seeks to meld his love of ridiculous arse shaking bass, the spirit of 90’s hardcore, Amiga game music and hip-hop. Mixing up dubstep, heavy bass and the occasional bit of bassline cheese he aims to make music that pleases the dance floor and the headphone listener by gently tweaking the party centres of the brain. Influenced by the likes of Zomby ...

NME has a good u2 article - scans are here (click and then zoom in again to read) u2 will play a concert for good morning america on march 6, details and location TBA the brits ... u2's performance seemed better than the grammys based on the youtube - but get on your boots is still not totally working live. seems like bono's fault. wednesday night, after the brits, bono appeared at the war child concert with coldplay and the killers. bono, brandon flowers and chris martin all in one place at one time. a well-timed bomb blast would have really ...

Steve Goodman is the folkie extraordinaire: creator of City of New Orleans, coverer of everything from Winter Wonderland to Shel Silverstein. Artistic Hair is a wonderful compilation of live stuff from a variety of dates around the beautiful USA, including New York, Austin and Appleton, Wisconsin. The kids especially like Chicken Cordon Bleus. Steve Goodman - Chicken Cordon [...]

  • Miles Davis... John Coltrane... Perry Robins ..
The first classic Mile Davis Quintet, recorded in 1955 when they were starting out, playing a Benny Golson tune, 'Stablemates.' Still finding their way at this point, a fascinating glimpse of what was to come when Davis road-hardened the band into a formidable playing and recording unit. With Philly Joe at the drums, they were always going to swing, yet Miles was evolving a new space to operate in, slowly clearing out the harmonic clutter of hard bop to point in new directions. (A process that was ongoing – arguably he had been on this road since the forties – see 'Birth ...

  • The only chart that counted: 1992
40 HWA Featuring Sonic The Hedgehog - Supersonic 1992 was a really, really great year for music, wasn't it? Remember this chart for the next time someone smugly tells you that the best music comes out of recessionary periods. 39 Mike Oldfield - Tattoo From Tubular Bells II, which probably even Oldfield's forgotten. If this all looks a bit lame you should see some of the near misses. Philip Schofield, who took over from Jason Donovan in Joseph (and that's why Andrew Lloyd Webber went to prime time BBC1 this time), had his version of Close Every Door at ...

  • Bahama Soul Club vs Isabelle Antena
I never learned to play an instrument, but if I could, I'd play either the percussion or the bass in a band like Bahama Soul Club . This German outfit plays a mix of bossanova, latin and jazz, with the sole purpose to make the audience move their asses. BHS uses various guestvocalists, like Pat Appleton from De-Phazz, but also the superlovely Isabelle Antena - one of the oz's (original zuchtmeisjes). A Bout de Souffle is a very danceable song, referring ofcourse to the Godard movie, and features a lot sighing. Great! Bahama Soul Club feat. Isabelle Antena - A Bout ...
