  • Pnau – Unite Us (Tommy Trash Remix)
"Unite Us" has that typical sinister robotic build up which allows us to prepare for an intense drop.

  • ALBUM REVIEW: Pnau 'Unite Us' out 19 Februar ..
Bog standard manu(factured) pop electro from Pnau. Was expecting more and It's a let down. The original is redeemed (as is this single release) by a great garage remix from Douster & Savage Skulls. Wookie tries his best to make something listen-able and nearly succeeds. Raffertie made some industrial thing that although unusable in any normal environment might provide a useful soundtrack for the next instalment of the Blade franchise, if there ever is one. That was my favourite, strangely, after several listens. There are also some hands in the air remixes including one from Kris Menace that lacks ...

  • News: Gotye Tops The Hottest 100: We Told Yo ..
"Gotye to top the Hottest 100." This was M+N contributor Andrew McMillen’s startling prediction at August’s Splendour In The Grass festival. And while he was mocked and derided like a young Nostradamus at the time, lo and behold, he was right. ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ featuring Kiwi-born singer Kimbra was officially announced this evening as the “hottest” song of 2011, beating out the likes of The Black Keys’ ‘Lonely Boy’ (#2), Matt Corby’s ‘Brother’ (#3) and Skrillex (#21). It’s the second year running an Australian act has topped the publically voted list, following ...

  • Feature: Trial By GIF: Triple J Hottest 100 ..
MAX EASTON offers his critical appraisal of triple j’s Hottest 100 2011 in a language the youth of Australia understands. Taking in 1.2 million votes from music fans, spectators and members of Dave Grohl's fan club, triple j's Hottest 100 is unequivocally the world's largest annual music poll conducted by a government funded radio station broadcast on a national holiday. As an event that is nothing if not this country's finest musical institution, it deserves nothing but the most careful analysis of its contents; an analysis that could only be done via the internet ...

  • Feature: Expatriate: ‘There’s Trepidation Mi ..
Off the local radar for the past few years, Expatriate’s Ben King tells DARREN LEVIN he’s eager to put the band on the map in Australia again. When Expatriate play the M+N Lunchbox at Sydney’s Goodgod this Friday, it’ll be just their third show on home turf in more than three years. The quartet – guitarist-singer Ben King, drummer Cristo, bassist Dave Molland and keyboardist/guitarist Damian Press – left Australia for Europe following the release of their ARIA-nominated debut In The Midst Of This in 2007. But unlike most Aussie ex-pats, whose European dreams end up ...

  • New PNAU Now Plus Spank Rock
Yes, 'now' really was back in July, but since I haven't been paying attention to one of my favorite artists lately, they slipped right past the lighthouse. These guys are always a hoot and this album is full of happiness. 'Unite Us' is somewhere between doing cartwheels on the 4th of July at night and exchanging smiles with your best friend at a wedding. It should be no surprise that 'Unite Us' could feel a little like ' Come Together ', and since I'm smitten by the smiles I really don't care as I'm sailing in these fellows ...
