  • Bass Duets With The Ghost Of Peter Kowald // ..
Nat Baldwin is more than just the guy with the bass (not the cello...) in Dirty Projectors, as he's proving with his stream of fantastic solo work. 'Weights', for example (have a listen below) is one of the more remarkable pieces of modern composition you'll hear; it owes as much to Owen Pallett as it does Arthur Russell yet sounds heavily indebted to neither. We caught up with Baldwin before his recent UK shows for a quick chat. A lot of people will know you primarily from your work with Dirty Projectors - introduce your solo project for us ...

  • Video: Halls – Lifeblood
‘Lifeblood’ van Halls‘ debuut-EP ‘Fragile’ doet me denken aan de melancholische indiepop van Owen Pallett, alleen is de viool hier omgeruild voor een piano. Bekijk hierboven de kleurrijke visuals die Ben Sygmonds bij het prachtige nummer in elkaar knutselde. De rest van de EP kun je hier beluisteren. Tweet

So, friends, perhaps it’s time to start thinking about how to get a job at the old frozen banana stand this summer. Unless, of course, there’s somewhere ...

  • The National To Curate ATP
The National are set to curate this December's instalment of All Tomorrow's Parties. For so long a group enjoyed only by a lucky few, 'High Violet' seemed to propel The National into wider consciousness. Headlining Latitude last summer, it was incredible to witness so many people going batshit crazy to 'Mr November'. Set to take it easy during 2012, The National have agreed to curate this December's instalment of All Tomorrow's Parties. Apparently the band's sole performance in British soil this year, ATP will run between December 7th - 9th. The National will take responsibility for ...

  • Music Review: Guided By Voices - Let's Go Ea ..
Guided By Voices Let’s Go Eat the Factory [Guided by Voices Inc.; 2012] by Nick RS Rating: Introducing a startlingly straitlaced cover of the Guided By Voices song “Game of Pricks” in 2010, elfin violin/electronics master Owen Pallett recalled how after a live encounter with the band’s rowdy following, he found himself suddenly less comfortable with calling himself a fan of Rob Pollard and his rotating cast of drunks. “They were amazing,” he clarified, “the best live band… but there were a lot of jocks. I had no idea!” The image of Pallett, bewildered amid waves of ...
