  • Mount Eerie - Clear Moon
Washington's Phil Elverum sheds musical skins at a rapid rate. From the dissolution of the Microphones (the nom de plume with which he courted as much fame as a K Records alumnus can) a couple of years ago, to the creation of Mount Eerie , Elverum's new project, which itself has flitted between the Microphones' lo-fi folk thrash to the likes of Wind's Poem , ostensibly inspired by Norwegian death metal.   There is one noticeable similarity in everything Elverum's done: each record is notable for its lo-fidelity and high concepts, tracks linked as much by the hiss of ...

  • Video: Hot Chip -"Night & Day"
Hot Chip 's boy-band-parodying video for "I Feel Better" is one of the most hilariously WTF music videos so far this year.  But, now it's got some competition ... from another Hot Chip video, this time for "Night & Day".  For both videos the UK electro-disco-pop band partnered with British comedian Peter Serafinowicz for hilarious results.  The "Night & Day" video features some monks worshiping an egg-shaped idol through interpretive dancing and also has supermodel Lara Stone and comedian/singer Reggie Watts dueling in flying saucers.  Yep.  Watch below. • This Week's Best Album Streams: 22nd May 201 ..
What a week it's been for album streams. The 405 has already brought you links to St Etienne, Alt-J, El-P and more, not forgetting the international live stream of the new Sigur Rós album- which was like gathering around the wireless listing to the Radio 1 Evening Session for the first play of Love Spreads all over again. But the week was marred by the deaths of Donna Summer, Robin Gibb and Donald ‘Duck' Dunn, all of whom influenced the music you listen to today. So respect their achievements by listening to their legacies at the core of this ...

  • New Hot Chip video feat. a supermodel, space ..
Supermodel Lara Stone, actors Reggie Watts and Terence Stamp, spaceships returning to earth and synchronised dancing monks? That would be Hot Chip’s brilliant new video for ‘Night and Day’ directed by British comedy hero Peter Serafinowicz. ‘Night And Day’, the first single from Hot Chip’s forthcoming album In Our Heads is a piece of [...]

  • New Music Video: Hot Chip
Hot Chip is moving towards their next full length LP, In Our Heads. First single "Night and Day" (which is very Hot Chip, we might add) has a new video, also starring Reggie Watts and supermodel Lara Stone. The video features a bunch of swimsuit wearing monks worshiping a giant egg, which believe it or not, is not the strangest concept for a Hot Chip music video to date. In Our Heads is out 6/12 via Domino.

  • Video: Hot Chip: "Night and Day"
Hot Chip have unveiled the video for their new single, "Night and Day" . Directed by British comedy hero Peter Serafinowicz (whose first music video was Hot Chip's "I Feel Better" ) and starring supermodel Lara Stone, the clip boasts an abomination of monks worshipping an egg-shaped deity through the medium of synchronized dance.  In Our Heads  is out on June 12 in the U.S. and June 11 in the UK, via Domino .

  • Video: DARKSIDE – “A1″
The opener of DARKSIDE’s wonderful EP got a video this week that looks like what your weird friends think they’re doing when they go out to the desert. It follows three apocalyptic monks on a quest to find things that shine in a way that works well with Nicolas Jaar’s eerily propellant and open “A1″ [...]

  • Monks of Mellonwah: Neurogenesis EP
Middle-of-the-road rock trying to get loud and nasty. The Neurogenesis EP by Australian quartet Monks of Mellonwah . They used three different big name producers for four tracks. Jeff Bova (Michael Jackson), Ryan Miller (RM Music), Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, RHCP) have ironed out all the wrinkles and found each other in a radio friendly sound that is adequate and mostly harmless. A&R; will love them, the general public will pick them up and drop them when the next one comes along. All the promise that was showing on in their previous EP Stars Are Out , with the stand-out track ...

  • One night, about fourteen years ago, I watch ..
One night, about fourteen years ago, I watched a movie at Adam Yauch’s apartment. It was a movie about the Tibetan struggle for liberation, a cause he deeply cared about, and I was invited — I think — because he knew about my background with the Hare Krishna movement and the time I spent in India. From what I can recall, he had something to do with the production of the film, and the version we watched was a rough edit. He was looking for criticism, suggestions, feedback. I have no idea if it ever got made. Yauch lived in Soho ...

  • Derdiyoklar Ikilisi - Disko Folk
by Bill Meyer Just how Germany became the place to break in a band is a question someone ought to snag for a Master's thesis. But think about it: Before they went to Germany, The Beatles were nobody. Before they went to Germany, The Monks didn't even exist. And Germany is where the Turkish duo Derdiyoklar... Read More
