Releasing music for over five years (Receiver EP, Strangers/This Song single, Sirhan Sirhan EP) they have a loyal fan base in Miami. This is a video of an acoustic version of their b side " Euclid Ave " (via www.thebtapes.com ), simple and gorgeously shot. BravestationThe four piece Bravestation from Toronto has given us the gift of their EP "2010" for free via their bandcamp page. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, just take it and "color up your life". Since my music loving roots are planted firmly in Miami, this band reminds me of the days when I used to go see Modernage (something about the melodies/vocals) or ANR (something about the drums in the track "Colour Us With Youth") once a week. The Original/The Remix: Modernage "Creatures ..Miami indie rockers, Modernage recently released their second EP, Sirhan Sirhan . The EP's first single "Creatures" sounds like the Hold Steady featuring R.E.M.'s Peter Buck covering Interpol. The track seems like an unlikely candidate to be remixed but Ryan Evans not only remixes it but practically turns it into a Flock of Seagulls track. ModernageMiami band Modernage apart from being great friends have been rocking the Miami music scene for quite some time. Opening up for big acts like Bloc Party, The Walkmen, The Stills, Elefant and playing all the big parties along the way. Doing us locals proud! For some reason they've slipped our Radar. Could've sworn I had written about them before. Recently local Miami DJ Ryan Evans remixed their track 'Creatures' off of their latest EP Sirhan, Sirhan to great effect. Modernage: Sirhan SirhanMiami band Modernage has the nerve to name their new EP after they guy who shot Robert Kennedy in 1968. Sirhan Sirhan is filled with danceable indie rock that most likely will turn up as a footnote in a future compendium about the Florida music scene in the '00s. Great bands needs lots of mediocre bands to stand out in the crowd and Modernage is in just in front of the cheap seats yelling and screaming for attention. Nice try. Next.
