Midnight Juggernauts

Australia

Midnight Juggernauts are a band from Melbourne, Australia composed of Andrew Szekeres, Vincent Vendetta, and Daniel Stricker. The band has been described as anything from 'prog dance meets cosmic film scores', to 'slasher-flick disco' to 'deadpan landscape' . It is hard to define the... Read More

  • Cosmo Black – Break Before You Bend
Cosmo Black is giving away his new EP, “Break Before You Bend“. The EP has been produced by Chris Moore who has produced for the likes of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foals and Midnight Juggernauts. It’s the latter the EP resembles the most, especially the title track. And if you missed it, here is the [...]

  • News: New Kirin J Callinan: The Most-Effed U ..
It’s only May, but Kirin J Callinan has put out, indisputably, the most fucked-up video of the year. (Until Teenage Mothers do a follow-up to ‘I Don’t Wanna Play The Game’ that is.) ‘W II W’, the first single from Callinan’s forthcoming debut solo album, features a gif-heavy video that leaves no sacred stone unturned – from nudity to religion and bestiality. It’s been directed by none other than Australian director Kris Moyes, the younger brother of Kim Moyes from The Presets, who’s directed clips for Beck, Architecture In Helsinki, The Rapture and Franz Ferdinand. Callinan ...

  • Live Review: FLRL feat. Guerre and Yannis + ..
The best things in life are free. This night was free. It was one of the best things in life. Ok, that’s not the soundest logic but I won a free beer earlier and saw some great live music for free so I’m trying to riff on this theme. Besides it was actually pretty damn amazing. The Flinders Hotel, a cosy little corner pub off Oxford Street, puts on really ace Sydney musicians every Tuesday for nada. Tonight we were were lucky enough to have a selection of top Sydney talent. Starting the night was the irrepressible JohnSong ...

Visit Indie Shuffle to download. Sounds like: AXXE, The Presets, Midnight Juggernauts, Röyksopp, Bag Raiders Song: RÜFÜS - Selena [download here ] What's so good? Australian outfit RÜFÜS has just released a new EP, minimally entitled Blue via Gigpiglet/Inertia, and accordingly uploaded some tracks for our streaming pleasure. Last month they gave us some EP foreplay in the form of a track called “This Summer” (see my Indie Shuffle homie Hugh’s review here ). Formally released April 6, I was instantly compelled to post their track “Selena,” being a power-house at first note. From their 2011 EP, the world is ...

Visit Indie Shuffle to download. Sounds like: The Presets, Midnight Juggernauts, Röyksopp, Bag Raiders, Massive Attack Song: RÜFÜS - This Summer [download here ] What's so good? Having seen Sydney-based indie-dance troupe RÜFÜS perform a number of times since their inception, I can definitely tell you they’re headed in the right direction. After releasing their debut EP last year, they’ve been touring incessantly – highlighted by a recent support slot for Röyksopp as well as numerous dates on the Australian tour circuit. They’ve also been in the studio putting the finishing touches on a second EP, due to be ...

  • Cut Copy: "Lover Motion" – Cut Copy-Bassist ..

  • News: Watch: Red Riders Duo Return With ‘Sum ..
Circle Pit’s Angela Bermuda has painstakingly put together the debut clip for Sydney’s Palms, a new outfit comprising former Red Riders members Al Grigg and Tom Wallace. The clip for ‘Summer Is Done’ – a scrappy bit of nostalgia pop – was shot in Australia and the US, with more than 1000 images sourced from Bermuda’s personal photographs, as well as travel books, images, zines and old pictures belonging to the band. It calls to mind Lucinda Schreiber’s clips for Midnight Juggernauts and Firekites , which used 2000 pieces of paper and 1910 individual chalk drawings, respectively.

  • The truth about the Midnight Conspiracy [int ..
Behind every conspiracy theory there exists a modicum of truth. In the case of the Midnight Conspiracy, however, you should believe everything you’ve heard. Spread the word; this isn’t a fire drill. They surprised fans recently with an unannounced preview of their new “Eye Live” laser light show during a sold out headlining event at [...] Related posts: Midnight Magic’s Nu-Disco Sound After Midnight Appearing Everywhere! • Solar Bears – “Alpha People”
Long time readers will remember Solar Bears from their Substitute Teachers mix for us and the other Dublin artists they’ve sent our way, and it’s great to hear them re-emerge in full cinematic splendor with the help of Keep Shelly In Athens‘ Sarah P. “Alpha People” has a bit of a Midnight Juggernauts/Miami Horror feel to it, with clear and percussive analog synth lines that warble over a driving drum [...]

  • Feature: Best Clips Of 2011
Tricks, effects, gimmicks, premises, punchlines – EDWARD SHARP-PAUL takes a look back at the best clips of the year. Possibly the most subjective best-of list going around is the ‘best film clip’. Firstly, we’re music fans, so what do we know about film? Secondly, what of crap songs with good clips? Are quality visuals damned by their association with average sounds? What if a great-looking clip has little or no resonance with a song’s themes? Narrative clips are often interesting, but never in a YouTube-y, “Holy shit! Look at that!” kind of way. Performance clips may be beautifully lit ...
