  • Kurt Vile, Local Nations For ATP
Kurt Vile , Local Natives and more have been added to the line up of ATP curated by The National. Currently on down time, The National were recently coaxed out of the rehearsal room by All Tomorrow's Parties. Handed the keys to Minehead, the Brooklyn band have invited along some friends, contemporaries and heroes. The latest batch of line up additions include American songwriter Kurt Vile. Joined by The Violators, Vile's brand of hazy, laid back acoustic musings will resonate around the chalets later this year. Elsewhere, Local Natives have been confirmed while Perfume Genius has also been added ...

  • Video: Newport Folk Festival 2011 Mini-Docum ..
The Newport Folk Festival has a storied history that dates back to 1959, when the fest was founded as a companion to the Jazz Festival. Over the last handful of years,  Newport Folk has once again gained the cache of being one of the premiere music festivals around, with its eclectic lineups and idyllic setting at the historic Fort Adams State Park. The fest, which is definitely something of “the music fan’s music festival,” is also one that the artists who play it have complete reverence for. Earlier this week a new 28-minute mini-doc shot at last year’s ...

  • Megafaun - State/Meant (Daytrotter session) ..
Megafaun - State/Meant ( Daytrotter session ) I’ve been listening to a lot of Megafaun since I wrote about them last week . It’s one of my favorite bands of the last few years. 2011’s self-titled album is really strong, and 2009’s Gather, Form & Fly has been one of my most-listened year over year. Both are on the great indie label, Hometapes . The guys played a Daytrotter session last month and a couple of the tracks are terrific. Well worth a listen, but even better: go see them if they come to a town near you. They’re awesome ...

  • Green Man 2012 Line Up Grows
The organisers of The Green Man have confirmed another batch of new additions. Hidden in the black mountains, The Green Man is one of Britain's most idiosyncratic events. In the past the festival has invited Celtic druids to bless the site in case of rain, and their free-thinking spreads through every aspect of the event. Continuing to expand, Green Man recently added several new names to its line up. The Tallest Man On Earth will return to Brecon Beacons for the first time since 2010, bringing with them a new album. 'There's No Leaving No' is due to ...

  • Technology Tuesday: Are You a TastemakerX? ..
Last week we told you about a cool little site called ThisIsMyJam which allows you to pick your “jam” for the week and share it with the world. It is a great way of sharing a song and seeing what your friends are listening to. However, if you want to dig much deeper into music discovery and immerse yourself in a massive multi-player music influence game, then TastermakerX might be for you. Maybe you’ve noticed a few cryptic tweets or Facebook posts lately along the lines of: “I just bought 150 Shares of Sigur  Rós [SGRR] at $18.25 ...

  • Exfm User Spotlight: Chewable Vitamins
Hey look, I’m on Exfm’s Spotlight series. Thanks, guys!  exfm : User Spotlight Jen (aka Chewable Vitamins) What is one of your favorite/most magical musical experiences? October 16, 1992. I was 14-years-old, full of teen angst, in the throes of Nirvana madness. I was watching the Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration on PBS with my parents and, I’m sure, wishing I were somewhere else. I loved Dylan and I dug some of the artists slated for the tribute. We watched familiar faces perform familiar tunes. I certainly didn’t expect anything revolutionary. I was indifferent as ...

  • OFF Festival Makes New Additions
OFF Festival has expanded its line up once again, with Metronomy, The Antlers and more being added. Held in Poland, OFF has rapidly developed a reputation for producing left field bills of an extremely high standard. Mixing experimental music with some tasteful mainstream fare, the Polish event recently expanded its bill yet again. Amongst the latest additions are Joe Mount's Mercury nominated collective Metronomy. Since the release of 'The English Riviera' the band have spent considerable time on the road, honing their live set in the process. Clad with those distinctive lamps on their chest, Metronomy are set to ...

  • Hopscotch Fest 2012: what you get when Zola ..
If only every city had a Hopscotch. Raleigh, NC’s big-big music festival has gotten even bigger this year, with the addition of historical (and possibly haunted!!!) sounding venues like the Long View Center, Memorial Auditorium and the Contemporary Art Museum to its 15 venues strong festival map. There are 175 artists playing this thing, people, with everyone from the likes of Class Actress and Baroness to Liars and Wagner">Mirel Wagner. This year is only Hopscotch’s third go-around, and already they’ve got swell headliners like Built to Spill, The Roots, and The Jesus and Mary Chain keyed ...
