Even though I don’t love the genre, single “Make It Known” is a relaxing and theatrical journey into the wild and weird world of this NY duo. When the melodies do come in, there is no denying how strong and powerful they are. Their new record, Take The Kids Off Broadway , comes out July 24th. Now who is this chap in this video outside the same building and other locations? It’s certainly not Morrissey returned, although he does pull some nifty dance moves that we’re sure Mozza would be proud of. For obvious reasons (mostly relating to youth), a majority of the songs featured on their Time To Pretend EP have a less than serious feel to them, and there is a particularly blasé imperfection to each of the delicately crafted tracks. New music: Swiss Lips – DanzFans of MGMT, Friendly Fires and the Rapture will find this Manchester band's latest single irresistible This Mancunian five-piece may look like shy indie urchins, but given their name is slang for female genitalia and their artwork tends to feature naked flesh, perhaps all is not what it seems. Fixers - We’ll Be The MoonThis Oxford band is a magnet for two pieces of over-used muso-speak: “experimental” and “genre-hopping”. The former is easily refuted: they sound too similar to the spaced-out likes of Collective">Animal Collective, MGMT et al to be considered innovators. As to the latter, this debut album does take some unexpected sonic detours, not least the ska-like bounce of ‘Crystals’, but you’d never mistake it for a mixtape.
