Mark BB! Ur the hottest hunk in indie! So why did u grow that filthy gross moustache! U look like a mix between a filthy latino gardener AND a creepy child predator! Part of me is like EWW GROSS, but the other part of me is very attracted to latinos with moustaches, sorta like in the movie Jack & Jill . At the end of the day, though, I would love for u to PUMP UP my clitoris in the way that you PUMP UP kicks! Honestly, It's been a long time since a man was TRUELY able to pleasure me ...

Jagjaguwar’s newest signees, Foxygen , play the kind of pysch-rock that was such a constant back in the 60’s or more recently on MGMT’s Congratulations. Even though I don’t love the genre, single “Make It Known” is a relaxing  and theatrical journey into the wild and weird world of this NY duo. When the melodies do come in, there is no denying how strong and powerful they are. Their new record, Take The Kids Off Broadway , comes out July 24th. Facebook Bandcamp Twitter

  • No Destination: I Guess That This Must Be Th ..
If the cover song is the highest form of musical flattery, then David Byrne must be tickled pink at how his 1983 classic “This Must Be the Place (Naïve Melody)” has fared over the years. It was perhaps most famously covered by Fire">Arcade Fire, with the endorsement (and participation) of Byrne, as a B-side to their single “Neighborhood #3 (Power Out).” But it’s also been moped over by the Counting Crows, stretched into a full-on jam by The String Cheese Incident, piped from a laptop by MGMT and whimpered by Kyp Malone of TV on the Radio, who ...

  • Foxygen – “Make It Known”
Jagjaguwar’s new signing is the Olympia, WA-meets-NYC duo of Sam France and Jonathan Rado, who make freewheeling, ’60s psych-inspired rock. Ariel Pink comparisons aren’t totally off-base, but I’d say present day MGMT is a closer comparison. The song in question today, “Make It Known,” ratchets through some cool ideas without ever settling on one, where [...]

Visit Indie Shuffle to download. Song: The Strokes - 12:51 [download here ] What's so good? I’m willing to bet there’s a good chance that if you’re listening to this right now, it’s taking you all the way back to the mid-2000s, when The Strokes’ Room On Fire was dominating airwaves. While next year will mark an entire decade since this album was released, many of the songs (if not all) are still just as amazing. So, I thought I’d bring one to the forefront and refresh your memory a bit. Enjoy “12:51,” the ...

Jhameel’s latest release follows in the footsteps of his widely popular Waves series, which was released late last year. Like Waves , the new series (titled Are You Free ) is a set of 5 tracks released over 5 weeks, each playing a role in the overall story and theme. The debut track and namesake from the series “Are You Free” is a blundered frenzy of pop and fuzz, built around Jhameel’s emotional vocals that strike ...

  • Swiss Lips - Danz (Video)
The iconic image of The Smiths outside the Salford Lads club was used on the sleeve of the Queen is Dead vinyl album. Now who is this chap in this video outside the same building and other locations? It’s certainly not Morrissey returned, although he does pull some nifty dance moves that we’re sure Mozza would be proud of. Whoever this long grey haired groover is he certainly seems to be enjoying the sounds of Swiss Lips and their dancetastic version of hooky electronic pop that will probably find favour with those who enjoy the likes of Fenech ...

  • MGMT “Love Always Remains” By implementing t ..
MGMT “Love Always Remains” By implementing the almighty power of hindsight, I’ve come to realize that there’s something special about MGMT’s earlier releases. For obvious reasons (mostly relating to youth), a majority of the songs featured on their Time To Pretend EP  have a less than serious feel to them, and there is a particularly  blasé imperfection to each of the delicately crafted tracks.  Of these, MGMT’s ode to the “west” (which I directly interpret as the West Coast, and more specifically, San Francisco) best demonstrates what I am trying to convey. No one has to ...

  • New music: Swiss Lips – Danz
Fans of MGMT, Friendly Fires and the Rapture will find this Manchester band's latest single irresistible This Mancunian five-piece may look like shy indie urchins, but given their name is slang for female genitalia and their artwork tends to feature naked flesh, perhaps all is not what it seems. While their latest single, Danz, doesn't appear to be about anything carnal, there is some pretty suggestive hip-swivelling going on in the video, which features a man dancing in a shopping centre, at a skate park and, most impressively, out Morrissey-ing Morrissey outside Salford Lads Club. Mind you, it ...

  • Electric Guest - Mondo
The new album by Electric Guest is being produced by Danger Mouse. That is the hook that the PR companies are working on, and probably the overriding thing that you will hear in passing about the record and/or band. The reason for this is because essentially Electric Guest are complete newcomers to the music scene and with such a highly regarded producer and musician championing their music, it certainly helps the cause. Upon listening to Mondo it is immediately noticeable why the aforementioned mouse has jumped on board with the project. The songs are melodic and catchy numbers, generally ...

  • Fixers - We’ll Be The Moon
This Oxford band is a magnet for two pieces of over-used muso-speak: “experimental” and “genre-hopping”. The former is easily refuted: they sound too similar to the spaced-out likes of Collective">Animal Collective, MGMT et al to be considered innovators. As to the latter, this debut album does take some unexpected sonic detours, not least the ska-like bounce of ‘Crystals’, but you’d never mistake it for a mixtape. Nearly everything here would make a fitting soundtrack to some kind of entirely welcome paranormal experience. So, not terribly experimental then, nor especially genre-hopping, but let’s not be sniffy; it’s ...
