Now, PB&J; drummer John Eriksson is venturing off alone as synth-based project Hortlax Cobra , and will be unveiling his debut LP, Night Shift , under that moniker next month. The Big Pink Live on KCRW – Stay GoldSoaring choruses are The Big Pink’s specialty and “Stay Gold”, complete with fuzzy guitar licks, is a perfect example. I was addicted to the song “Dominos” off the UK band’s previous album and they treated us to that track, as well as “Velvet” (which Lykke Li covered in our studios last year) and “Superman” (inspired by Laurie Anderson’s “O Superman”) in this live session recorded while the band was on the West Coast for Coachella. Indie Babes of the Week Stealing Sheep, out ..Indie Babes of the Week Stealing Sheep , out of Liverpool, consist of three lovely ladies, Becky Hawley, Emily Lansley and Lucy Mercer. They make magical harmony laced 60’s pysch pop that is pretty breathtaking. On their upcoming single, “Shut Eye”, the band combine their layered vocals with some of Lykke Li’s pounding Jungle boogie. The result is pretty addicting, and something I was not expecting. The video is also very entertaining, in all it’s animated glory.
