Gary Clark Jr was born and raised in Austin. He's been performing in clubs around Austin since he was a teenager, and vwas embraced early on by the legendary promoter Clifford Antone, owner of the blues club Antone's. Through Clifford's connections, Clark sat in with and learned from a wide variety of modern-day guitar greats. From the Chicago Tribune : David "Honeyboy" Edwards, a bluesman who was a living, breathing link to blues legend Robert Johnson, died early Monday morning of congestive heart failure while resting at home, according to the performer's official website.
