King Charles - Live At The Garage, London ..Firstly, good effort on scrubbing up well. The band look very smart and their mums would be proud. But then comes King Charles, probably the only person to wear a Guantanamo bay style orange jumpsuit and still retain that regal air, reminiscent of a modern day Prince. This man has a ‘tache that puts Eugene from Gogol Bordello to shame. You cannot help but admire his mighty dreadlocks, neatly coiffed onto the top of his head, not for long though. News: Triple J Reveals ‘Second’ Hottest 100 ..In the lead-up to triple j’s Hottest 100 countdown on Australia Day, eventual list topper Gotye revealed how he’d like to see Godley & Creme-inspired album track ‘State of The Art’ make the cut. It didn’t, of course, but we can now reveal how close it actually came thanks to a list of the Hottest 100 also-rans (picks 101-200) published by triple j today. First Aid Kit – Emmylou (Wichita) [Review] ..What is it with Swedes that makes them think they’re from the American deep south? The Tallest Man On Earth has been peddling his (brilliant) twangy cod-Americana for a few years now, and now First Aid Kit are building on the success of their debut album with a sound that is so bloody Country that they’re writing songs called ‘Emmylou’. Beth Jeans Houghton & The Hooves Of Destiny ..As proven so eloquently in our previous issue’s gorgeous cover story, Miss Houghton is a firecracker to contend with - small yet mighty and very headstrong, when she explodes, she covers her debut album in iridescent sparks that take your breath away. Floating like a geordie Joni Mitchell over the cosmic folky cloud of her accompanying Hooves, it would seem that her breathy vocals fall softly like snowflakes, dusting their musical landscape with a blanket of angelic delicateness. Jack White, InterruptedThe unrivaled Jack White has announced he'll be releasing his debut album Blunderbuss on April 24th. The first single off the album, "Love Interruption" is an acoustic roots rock track that incorporates folk and blues elements. Nashville singer, Ruby Amanfu provides supporting vocals to White's demands on love. The Highlands appear to have become quite the hot destination for any new group with a folk bent.
