Jose Gonzalez

Sweden

José González is a Swedish indie folk singer-songwriter of Argentine descent. González was born in a suburb near Gothenburg, Sweden. He commented; "It's a very small town. It has about a half-million people living there. It's a pretty good music city by the ocean. It rains a lot ther... Read More

  • * * * * * Tired Tape Machine * * * * *
It’s no coincidence that Jose Gonzalez’ music was dropped in favour of Tired Tape Machine for the final scene in Swedish director Mikel Cee Karlssons film Hälsningar från Skogen (the soundtrack, released on Kningdisk, also included artists like Peter Broderick and Tape). Petter Lindhagen’s one man band truly personifies the wave of new music that [...]

  • 405 Community Review Edition 2
Every fortnight we'll ask you question via the site/twitter/facebook/tumblr and the best answers will be included here, alongside anything else from our networks we feel like sharing. In the last edition we asked you the following question: What's your favourite album of all time? The new question can be found at the bottom of the article. Our Favourite Responses All Mod Cons by The Jam. It got an eight year old absolutely hooked on music. Still sounds fresh to me 30 odd years later. from Steve Mcgillivray (Facebook) **** The Queen Is Dead, but I can ...

  • Beth Orton / Sam Amidon
The Old Museum - Sun Jan 15 That Sam Amidon refers to himself as a band seems like a self-effacing joke from this apparent introvert until he starts to sing. Then his range from barely-heard whispers to guttural shouts with harmonies in between (like Jose Gonzalez gargling broken glass) seems to qualify him as more than a solo act. On stage he stands perfectly still from the waist down, occasionally rocking side to side like a James Taylor bobblehead doll while slowly charming the audience with ...

  • Brooker Buckingham - So Real/surreal (2011) ..
Calgary's own Brooker Buckingham debuts with his first full-length solo effort So Real/Surreal .  My first impression of his sound is one kindred to Jose Gonzalez and Iron and Wine-maybe a little less polished from the latter, but all the basic elements are there.  The album starts off with a nice energetic intro on "Signs Won't Stop Me", which provides a style-sample for the rest that follows. There are a couple of songs worth singling out, but "Busted Star" is probably my favorite on here.  Mainly because of its massive electric guitar solo that just goes on and ...

  • Jose Gonzalez Wants to Record His Next Album ..
Filed under: News Jim Dyson/Getty Images Jose Gonzalez wants your house. Or your villa. The Swedish singer-songwriter has decided he wants to record his next album in the solitary seclusion of a home or, better yet, the scenic isolation of perhaps a chateau. But his way of procuring said peaceful getaway is slightly unorthodox. Gonzalez has sent out an email blast and Facebook post soliciting a casa to record some tunes. The message reads : "Hi people! I have started to write my next album and I'm wondering if anyone knows a house/villa I can rent somewhere sunny ...

  • Jose Gonzalez Needs Your Help
Swedish songwriter Jose Gonzalez has asked fans to help him locate a "house/villa" to write his new album in. Jose Gonzalez likes to do things his own way. Enjoying massive commercial success with 2007's 'In Our Nature' the songwriter then decided to make music with friends. Committing himself to Junip, the singer helped work on the band's new album 'In Every Direction' and a subsequent tour. With those dates completed, it now seems that Jose Gonzalez is ready to return to his solo guise. Sending a message to fans on Facebook , the Swedish artist explained that he ...

Click image to download full album Sounds like: Bahwee Suh, Sugoisounds, Annu "Depakote - Tummler" What's so good? So I gotta admit… I’ve been in a bit of a musical rut lately. Nothing has really sounded good. You know those times where everything sounds the fucking same? Welcome to my life for the past few weeks. It took randomly stumbling across a beatbaker from my hometown area to really reignite my ears and remind me that there is actually fresh stuff being put out there. This featured track, “Tummler,” will surprise you. It starts off with a quiet, incredibly ...

  • Festival | Bestival 2011
Sparky electro-pop and dance were more dominant than folk at this year’s Bestival, but it’s a cheerful mish-mash where sensitive strumming acts are welcomed (as long as they’re not upset by a soft background thud of drum and bass, as King Creosote was). The Unthanks sang beautifully to a very appreciative crowd, accompanied by lots [...] ( Read more... ) Categories: Gigs , Reviews Tags: Björk , Daughter , Jose Gonzalez , Junip , Tempest">Kate Tempest , King Creosote , Lanterns on the Lake , lucy r , Noah and the Whale , PJ Harvey , The Unthanks
