I want to revisit a short post I did back in December regarding the band Sea Wolf. They are reportedly coming out with a new album soon, which I am looking forward to as the band has shown real growth in their album progression (writing) and live performances (ability to play).  Yes, this is another band in the pop-friendly folk-rock genre appealing to the hopeless romantic susceptible to poetic flurries and soft strings. But there is talent behind the music enabling it to reach more than just college-aged sweethearts. Does it shatter expectations with incredible originality? No. Does it fit ...

Did you really think I was going to mention Joe Purdy and not blog about one of his songs.  Yeah right.  This one put him on the map.  It aired on the first season of Lost and its called Wash Away.  He said at the etown taping that it orginally was a sad song about a couple that had committed suicide, seperately, by drowning.  And the sad song got put to happier music and now no one wants to hear the sad version.  I sort of see why.  It's pretty, but you can definitely hear the sad.  Joe Purdy ...

The watershed moment of Thursday night's star-studded Neil Young tribute concert at New York City's Carnegie Hall came just 20 minutes into the two-hour-plus set, as 65-year-old soul singer Bettye LaVette finished her jazz-flecked rendition of "Heart of Gold."
