Keiji Haino, Oren Ambarchi, and Stephen O'Ma ..If I had to pick the one guy who likes to collaborate the most, I’d have to pick Keiji Haino. A quick glance at the portion of his discography listed with his name plus at least one other artist includes outings with: Peter Brotzmann, Loren Connors, Shoji Hano, Tatsuya Yoshida, Barre Phillips, Derek Bailey, Boris, Alan Licht, KK Null, Coil, Thurston Moore, My Cat Is an Alien, Tony Conrad, Pan Sonic, and most recently, Jim O’Rourke and Oren Ambarchi, among quite a few others. Hopscotch Fest 2012: what you get when Zola ..If only every city had a Hopscotch. Raleigh, NC’s big-big music festival has gotten even bigger this year, with the addition of historical (and possibly haunted!!!) sounding venues like the Long View Center, Memorial Auditorium and the Contemporary Art Museum to its 15 venues strong festival map. Mark Fry: An AssessmentThese things take time. An English arts student, Mark Fry's wanderlust took him to Italy. Studying painting in Florence, the young musician was introduced to the record producer Vincenzo Micocci. Laying down a series of tracks in the summer of 1971, what emerged was named 'Dreaming With Alice'. Released the following year to almost no fanfare, Mark Fry had already left Italy by the time the album reached it's tiny audience. Keiji Haino/jim O\'rourke/oren Ambarchi - Im ..To try and talk about an epic guitar-based free form improv record in which Jim O'Rourke and Oren Ambarchi are involved but do NOT play guitar seems weird, if not a waste. Unless, that is, there is a guitarist of similar daring on board, the likes of one Keiji Haino. With O'Rourke on bass and Ambarchi drumming, Haino is the force that makes "Imikuzushi" a staggering, difficult and cathartic listening experience.
