Jazz breaking news: Steve Winwood To Open Ch ..Cheltenham Jazz Festival have just announced that iconic singer/keyboardist Steve Winwood will open this year’s festival on Wednesday 2 May appearing in the new Big Top venue. This will be an exclusive UK performance before Winwood heads off on his spring tour of the US, it also makes good on his close ties to the festival as both he and his wife Eugenia are patrons of Cheltenham Festivals and as such all profits from Winwood’s appearance will be donated to the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust. Jazz breaking news: Gregory Porter, Melody G ..Porter">Gregory Porter and the Kit Downes / Seb Rochford duo are among the new names added to the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, which this year undergoes a major facelift, with a new outdoor location and several new covered venues. Running from 2-7 May the festival, now in its 17th year and held in association with BBC Radio 2 and sponsored by Jazzwise, moves to Montpellier Gardens in the town centre, close to the previously used Town Hall and Imperial Gardens site.
