Meatshank-ScavengersSelf-released/Independent 2010/2012 Well, there's a bit of a back story on this one. I first read about these guys online (in passing) and so, being that I was interested to hearing them and this album (which even though it was released in 2010 is making the promo rounds again in 2012), I reached out to the band on Facebook. Meanwhile I happened upon their album at Stereo Killer (where they are streaming it) so I just went that route. Yes, that is the same Stereo Killer were I found the Pleasant Living demo. Old Man Gloom (members of Cave In, Isis, Con ..Old Man Gloom , the Boston-based band featuring members of Isis , Cave In , and Converge , will be releasing their new album via Hydra Head Records this summer. Old Man Gloom To Release New Album ‘NO’ Whil ..Yesterday, Hydra Head Records teased everyone about a new album from Old Man Gloom, featuring Aaron Turner (Isis), Nate Newton (Converge, Doomriders), Caleb Scofield (Cave In), and Santos Montano (Zozobra). Mydra-MydraYesterrock 2012 Mydra was one of many German melodic hard rock bands to come out of the later half of the eighties. As the story goes the band emerged out of the ashes of another Hamburg band called Charon. After two albums under that name Charon’s line-up changed so much that a new name was in order. Or at least Phonogram Records thought as much so after the names Midas Touch and Hydra were rejected by the label the band settled in on Myra. The rest as they say is history. SXSW: ThundercatI know, I know-- the whole point of Thundercat is leader Stephen Bruner and his frantic bass skills. But please, can we give the drummer some ? At this set, the drummer's arms were flailing around like hydra heads, smashing every cymbal over and over like he had a grudge against all things gold-colored and circular. So while "Daylight", a highlight from last year's The Golden Age of Apocalypse , sounded smoother than silk pajamas, there was that drummer behind him, going apeshit like he just did not care.
