  • Rob Sacher (former owner of Luna Lounge) Rea ..
Former Luna Lounge co-owner, Rob Sacher, has a brand new book, Wake Me When It's Over , a story of his life as a New York club owner filled with stories about meeting, partying, or working with many iconic bands of the alternative and indie rock world. Rob's last club was Luna Lounge, which started out on the Lower East Side, and the bar featured the first shows from some awesome bands that have gone on to be some of the world's most important and successful music artists. Luna was the room were The Strokes first performed, where ...

  • Hurricane Bells - Tides And Tales (2011)
Tides and Tales is the second full length album from NY's Hurricane Bells, and was made possible in part by fans through a PledgeMusic campaign. The album opener "I've Got a Second Chance" foreshadows what you can expect from the rest of the album. It begins with an engine-revving intro which collapses into a stripped down introspective song, thus showcasing both sides of Hurricane Bells. While Hurricane Bells don't sound exactly like any other band I've come across, there are some comparisons that can be drawn. "Possibilities" blends the laid-back lo-fi of Yo La Tengo with ...

  • Prepare for the Storm - Hurricane Bells at J ..
Hurricane Bells is the new project from Steve Schiltz, the lead vocalist of the on-hiatus New York rock outfit Longwave. After a strong debut album and EP, the band gained significant exposure with the inclusion of a song in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" original soundtrack. Tides and Tales , the sophomore effort from Hurricane Bells, was released on October 25, brimming with a catchier and more organic sound than Longwave's proggy bombast. Take a look at the video of the first single, "The Ghost of Her", a mid-tempo rocker that's a sonic successor to Roger McGuin's Birds ...

Hurricane Bells, the indie-pop tangent of Longwave’s Steve Schiltz, got some attention in 2009 when a B-side, “Monsters,” made the soundtrack for “The Twilight Saga: The New Moon.” Last month, Schiltz released the second Hurricane Bells album, “Tides and Tales,” a collection of fuzzy, jangly and effects-dotted gems that, while not earning any points for [...]

  • Hurricane Bells - "Tides and Tales" CD Revie ..
The Ghost Of Her by Hurricane Bells On October 25th, Steve Schiltz is releasing Hurricane Bells' second disc, Tides and Tales , on his imprint Invisible Brigades. This 12-track / 40 minute disc builds on the melancholy late-night vibe of 2009's Tonight is the Ghost but, this time out, Schiltz utilized a full band during the recording process which leaves this disc sounding more cohesive than its predecessor. Contributing to this disc are: Ashen Keilyn (Scout), who’s toured with Hurricane Bells from its inception; Christian Bongers (bass) and Colin Brooks (drums), who round out the live band; Travis Harrison (drums ...

  • Hurricane Bells: Tides And Tales
Hurricane Bells Tides And Tales Invisible Brigades [2011] Fire Note Review: Another smooth delivery of indie tracks on the sophomore effort from Hurricane Bells. Album Review: Tides And Tales is the sophomore record from longtime singer/guitarist of Longwave, Steve Schiltz, and his current moniker Hurricane Bells. The record continues his indie journey over these 12 tracks that can draw true emotion on ballads like "Flowers In The Dirt" or give you a more power pop route on catchier tunes like "The Ghost Of Her". The strength in Hurricane Bells is Schiltz total control over the albums 40 minutes as ...

  • HURRICANE BELLS-
Hurricane Bells is the new band by Steve Schiltz, singer and guitarist of Longwave. I liked Longwave. It’s smooth pop, a little more mellow and mature than Longwave. And the kids love it: You probably remember their Twilight song….But don’t hold that against them. They’re pretty damn good.

Hurricane Bells is the solo songwriting and recording vehicle of Longwave's Steve Schiltz, whose fuzzy B-Side, "Monsters" added an extra layer of brooding to Robert Pattinson's entrance in 2009's The Twilight Saga: New Moon . Next week, Schlitz will share Tides and Tales , his second long-player under the Hurricane Bells guise, via Invisible Brigades. Have a listen to skyscraping standout "Let's Go":
