Gruff Rhys to perform 'Hotel Shampoo' in ful ..Everyone's favourite Welshman Gruff Rhys is set to perform his latest record, Hotel Shampoo , in its entirety for the first time this July. Taking place at London's Royal Festival Hall on 6th July, support comes from singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon and instrumental surf-rock band Y Niwl, who’ll also act as Gruff's backing band. But there's more! Gruff will also be playing a more intimate warm-up show at Exeter Phoenix the day before (5th July), tickets for which are available here . Gruff Rhys Royal Festival Hall ShowGruff Rhys has announced plans for a one off show at the Royal Festival Hall this summer. The solo catalogue of Gruff Rhys is a dense, unforgiving place. However 'Hotel Shampoo' seems to stick out, building a cult following that grows on a near daily basis. Now the Welsh songwriter has decided to underline the album's success by performing it in full this summer. Simian Mobile Disco - UnpatternsSimian Mobile Disco’s last studio record, 2009’s ‘Temporary Pleasure’, utilised a range of guest vocalists, from Gruff Rhys to Beth Ditto. It’s a tactic they could have done with repeating on ‘Unpatterns’, an album which is crying out for that kind of variation to hold your attention. The hallmarks of Simian Mobile Disco are present - huge beats and house loops take centre-stage - but many of the tracks just feel like they’re missing a vital component.
