Stubborn Heart | Knuckledown The weather shouldn’t dictate what you’re listening to. We spend too much time making summer playlists, hitting play on Grizzly Bear because the sun’s out, because we feel obliged to. Or maybe I’m just feeling miserable as I hide indoors and play Portishead at full blast. Regardless, the seagulls which appear in the background of ‘ Knuckledown ’ don’t make this effort any happier - it’s a stark, gorgeous track though, with some twisted vocal takes to swerve it into unknown territory. Soulful, performed with such expertise and emotion and deeply, deeply sad. Perfect ...

  • Daniel Rossen – Return To Form
Shouldn’t be any surprise to find out that Daniel Rossen is he out of Grizzly Bear. How else could you explain the somewhat awkward glory of ‘Return To Form’ from his debut solo release ‘Silent Hour/Golden Mile’ (out on Warp Records..). Like all the best GB moments this one doesn’t as much grab you by [...]

——————————————————————————————-           As the end of college year is approaching, we are really busy. Obviously not sufficiently to abandon the blog, but just enough to make not-very-inspired playlists. After all, we had to do this or an n-nth article about French politics.                          ——————————————————————————————- 1. Calm Like You - The Last Shadow Puppets 2. Plans - Grizzly ...

  • INSPIRATION: Wildeflower [Feature]
Willdefloweraka. Max Kinghorn-Mills makes beautifully unaffected, Grizzly Bear indebted folk pop that we currently can't get enough of over at RFB HQ. In perhaps one of our favourite inspiration columns yet, we find out exactly why: Richard Dawkins, R. Crumb, Wind In The Willows, Audrey Tatou and a whole load more inspire him to make the music he does. CREATIVITY, IMAGINATION, PASSION. Crumb: I discovered R.Crumb when I was around 14 years old and devoured every American underground comic I could find in the house (which turned out to be quite a lot). Some of his work will ...

Visit Indie Shuffle to download. Sounds like: Toro y Moi, Grizzly Bear Song: Yeasayer - Henrietta [download here ] What's so good? Yeasayer is going on tour, and to hype things up a little bit, have released a new song titled “Henrietta.” The Brooklyn-based band’s avant-garde style is clearly punctuated throughout the song, which doesn’t give way to anything beautiful until roughly the halfway mark. Curious to catch them live? You can grab more details here . Tour dates : 6/19 Richmond, VA @ The National 6/20 Asheville, NC @ The Orange Peel 6/21 Knoxville, TN @ Bijou Theatre 6/22 ...

  • Pygmalion Fest brings double headliners Griz ..
Rockin’ college town(s) Champaign-Urbana, Illinois has/have a lot to be proud of. They’re home to a major university, were named one of the Top 25 Green Cities in the US, and spawned (or served as home base for) such notables as Roger Ebert, Ang Lee, David Foster Wallace and… Ludacris. (I love Ludacris.) So it’s easy to see how the cities’ Pygmalion Music Festival got its name — I mean, who’s to blame a place for falling in love with the supercool music festival it built with its own hardworking hands? Because for eight years, Pygmalion ...

  • Grizzly Bear announce two intimate shows
Grizzly Bear are slowly coming out of hibernation, having been busy working on the follow-up to the marvellous Veckatimest - thus they have indulged in very little live appearances for the past two years. However, the foursome have announced two intimate shows for this August, before UK festival appearances at End of the Road Festival and Electric Picnic. The shows will be at Cambridge Junction on August 28th, and at The Albert Hall in Nottingham on August 29th. Tickets are on sale now and will surely sell-out sharpish - so head over to Gigantic (other outlets are available) and snap them up ...

The summer music festival outlook just got a bit clearer, as Bumbershoot, Counter.Point, Pygmalion, and CBGB are among the latest events to unveil their lineups. The forecast calls for plenty of Skrillex, but art-rockers Grizzly Bear will also be making a stateside return, while M83, Cloud Nothings, and plenty of others are scheduled for multiple appearances...

Am 18. Mai erscheint das Drittwerk "A Different Ship" des amerikanischen Quartetts Here We Go Magic via Secretly Canadian.
