News: No Dirty Three, Striborg In 'Hottest 2 ..Triple J music director Richard Kingsmill has revealed the 100 albums that nearly made last month’s Hottest 100 Australian Albums of All Time – and while it redresses some oversights ( Born Sandy Devotional makes the cut this time at #126) there are still some glaring omissions. Like The Dirty Three and Tasmanian metal legend Striborg, who despite a “viral” campaign by M+N that included Tweets and stickers (pictured), failed to make the cut. News: Industry Reacts To Amy Winehouse’s Dea ..Australia’s music community has taken to Twitter to express their shock and sadness at the passing of Amy Winehouse. The troubled UK soul singer was found dead in her flat in Camden, North London, on Saturday (July 23). She was 27. While Winehouse never toured Australia – there were reportedly several attempts to bring her out – her 2007 album Back To Black went on to sell more than 70,000 copies locally. Splendour Selection #8 - The Living EndSo The Living End are back for Splendour 2011. I know what you're thinking. "God damn it Chris Cheney, just get a new party trick for your stage show. The Living End have changed about as much as Grinspoon over the past decade. The only difference is, The Living End actually know how to play their instruments. And music. News: Powderfinger Named ‘Hottest Of All Tim ..More than 47,000 triple j listeners have named Powderfinger’s Odyssey Number Five the Hottest Australian Album of All Time. The band’s 2000 album – their fourth – was announced the winner of the national poll on triple j earlier this afternoon (July 10). It beat out the likes of silverchair’s Frogstomp (#2), AC/DC’s Back In Black (#3), The Living End by The Living End (#4) and Gilgamesh by Gypsy & The Cat (#91).
