News: Nick Cave’s ‘Wangster’ On Show At Cann ..Nick Cave’s latest foray into screenwriting has made its international premiere at Cannes. The 52-year-old singer has adapted Matt Bondurant’s novel The Wettest County in the World for the John Hillcoat-directed Lawless , which tells the story of three infamous bootlegging brothers in prohibition-era Virginia. It stars Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman and Shia LaBeouf, with an original score co-written by Cave with partner-in-crime and former Grinderman bandmate , The Dirty Three’s Warren Ellis. Circle Pi ..Hard to believe, but when they’re not at the centre of nang-huffing scandals or “shaming” agro bouncers on stage , Melbourne’s Teenage Mothers actually make music. And for their latest single, they’ve teamed up with none other than former child prodigy Jack Mannix from Circle Pit, who’s sparked some forum controversy of his own by simply opening his mouth . Grinderman: "Grinderman 2 Rmx" (mini-review) ..I'm torn about the demise of Nick Cave 's Grinderman project. On the one hand I hope it means we'll get more Bad Seeds music. On the other, I think we were treated to two albums that took us to a different extreme. So it's nice to get to milk a bit more out of it with Grinderman 2 Rmx , a remix album of the second record. Anyone who bought the deluxe version of the original album has already heard the standout "Super Heathen Child", which features the legendary Robert Fripp. With that aside, the new standouts ...Snob's Music24 April 2012

405 Record Store Day Preview: BrightonHaving only lived in Brighton a year, I literally missed last years Record Store Day here by just a handful of days much to my disappointment, especially having moved from a town that didn't even have an indie record store. Music: Music Review: Grinderman: Grinderman ..There’s more than a little irony that Grinderman , a band that served as the wild and raw foil to the Bad Seeds’ sophistication, turned its songs over to be remixed. The act’s two albums were a testament to base desires—sex, mostly, with a hint of violence to keep listeners on their toes—and there are few places less primal than the cold deliberations of a producer’s mixing suite.
