Das Greenville Festival gibt vier neue Künstler bekannt, die sich dieses Jahr vom 27. bis zum 30. Juli in Paaren/Glien die Ehre geben. Zuletzt wurde neben den erprobten Rockern Donots ebenfalls das Singer/Songwriter-Kollektiv We Invented Paris bestätigt ( motor.de berichtete ). Nun vergrößert zusätzlich die britische Countryfolk-Sängerin Gemma Ray das Line Up. Sie wird von Kritikern als " Norah Jones auf Amy Winehouse 's Drogen" beschrieben. Ebenso spannend ist das ehemalige Schulband-Quartett The Kabeedies, das seinen poppigen Rockabilly-Sound in diesem Sommer auch auf die Bühnen des Greenville Festivals tragen wird. Das Greenville Festival versüßt uns das Wochenende mit vier Band-Bestätigungen – und wieder ist Vielseitigkeit Trumpf: The Big Pink, Gogol Bordello und Go Back To The Zoo sind als Acts bestätigt. Und irgendwie haben die Veranstalter über den großen Teich geblickt. Der Sommer wird heiß, jedenfalls wenn man die bisherigen Bestätigungen bei den Open Airs sieht. Das Greenville Festival legt nämlich mit weiteren Acts für den diesjährigen Event nach. Zuvor konnten bereits Hochkaräter wie Iggy & The Stooges als Headliner präsentiert werden ( motor.de berichtete ). Der Veranstaltungs-Newcomer, der in Paaren/Glien bei Berlin ein Zuhause gefunden hat, findet vom 27. - 30. Juli statt. Damit sind bereits 27 Bands bestätigt. Mit The Flaming Lips wird nun ein weiteres Schwergewicht der Musikszene, neben Turbostaat und Dizzee Rascal, präsentiert. The prospect of whittling down my list of 2011 favorites to a standard top 10 or even 20 just didn't seem quite so appropriate this year so I've opted instead to break up my selections into a few compartmentalized and highly subjective niches. When I reflect back on the year just passed, this is the method that makes the most sense to me, and besides, music is not a contest and many of these records simply cannot withstand side-by-side scrutiny. An unofficial video for "Follow the lights" by Grande Roses, the last song on their brilliant new EP "Hide" which will be officially released this week. Tis a shame that Americans can hear it via Spotify like their last two EPs, but who knows? Maybe that'll be remedied in the near future. Anyhow, locals can celebrate with the band at Debaser Slussen in Stockholm on August 30 for an official release party.

Grande Roses have been officially picked up by Capitol/EMI Music Sweden and will be releasing their (excellent!) new single "Go home" (as posted for preview yesterday) on July 11 with the new "Hide EP" following on August 24. Best of luck to those guys reaching a larger audience, I've been a fan from the beginning and am happy to see their talent get validated.
